How reliable is UPS tracking?

My cousin is taking off to college tomorrow but I told him to stay an extra day so I can build his computer ... only piece missing is the dumb CPU.

UPS says it's scheduled for devliery tomorrow and it's on time, but the thing that worries me is that that was the status since 9/13 and it doesn't showed that it's arrival at CA.

How can they deliver the package if it even hasn't been scanned at CA yet?

If I can't get it to him by Saturday, I might as well tell him to take off tomorrow as he had planned.

Can I trust the their tracking, just can't seem to see how they can deliever it tomorrow if arrival scan at CA has not happened yet. Guess it can arrive by plan tonight ...

I've had packages before where the tracking wouldn't update until the day it was delivered, even though it had been moving the whole time.

I had a package like that which eventually was lost. Typically, it will say out for delivery on the day you are to receive it.

That is because they are in transit. If they were unloaded or transfered through a UPS Center they would be scanned again.

Around here, it usually doesn't update after shipment until it gets into state, then takes less than 24hrs for delivery.
