How reliable is GoDaddy's web hosting service?

I have a co-worker and a friend who both go through GoDaddy and say it's pretty good. They have been with GoDaddy for 2 years I think.

I wouldn't reccomend Godaddy for hosting to be honest, search around and you'll see why, overselling to the extreme.

I think you're a little biased

I knew that would be one thing, but I think there are many objective points that can be taken into considering such as the control panel, how packed a server is, quality of customer support, etc.

Keep in mind that lots of places oversell such as banks - they don't have enough cash on hand that everyone could withdraw all their money. As long as it is kept in control it can be fine IMO, that said, I do not oversell at this point

good hosting, and you can buy domains there as well.

they are ok... just dont expect much of any support on it. I have a site currently hosted with them and overall they are good but we had an outage (while they were "upgrading their service" and we were down for 36 hours). Constantly calling them didnt get anything resolved.

They are cheap for what you get but dont expect any support.

I would check out Pair Networks or LiquidWeb.com if reliability and speed are important to you.

If they're not you can always go with a 14 year old kiddy web host.

They now do their own brand of VoIP, which I did not realize until I checked the site. It's ACANAC.com or something stupid like that lol...but their hosting is top-notch. I have 20GB space and 400GB of bandwidth a month, like one day of downtime in over a year and a half, and that was so they could overhaul the server and upgrade the PHPBB2 installations. They always email ahead of time before downtime, do their own backups, all that stuff.
