How reliable is Amazon cancelled shipping?

Do they charge you when they shipped the item? I canceled an hour after I ordered it and I got a email confirmation of it.


I looked at my credit card statement online and I am guessing the transaction as to be authorized first?

very reliable in my experience. how long it takes for the charge to drop off depends on your bank.

Not reliable. I find unless I cancel immediately they ship anyway. If they said they did cancel though I am sure they did. Of course they only suck at it because they put things in the mail so damn fast.

Yes, the item is charged, only when they ship.
 
I received a camera that I cancelled. Amazon didn't even believe me when I told them as their systems told them it was being shipped back to them. I practically had to fight them on it, but they eventually conceded and ordered a UPS pickup.
 
In my experience they ship very quickly but even if you are charged they'll usually take care of it for you.
 
I've cancelled half a day later and it got cancelled fine. Not a prime member. My credit card still said *pending* but it never got charged. If it states cancelled on the status then you're fine.

Sometimes it takes them 2 days before it is even *shipping now*. Once it took nearly a week.

Wow, that's a huge difference. I can order around noon and have stuff delivered by 8pm same-day for free. 😱

I can order around noon and have an order with a minimum total of $35.00 delivered by 8pm same-day for no additional charge over my Prime membership, instead of paying $3.99 per item for next day shipping or $5.99 per item for same day shipping.

Better?
 
Amazon can be amazing with shipping.

I ordered something from Amazon about 7PM Sunday to be shipped to my parents house in a little NC town that's an hour away from any decent size city. The next afternoon they called to say they got the package. Arrived in less than 24 hours AND I chose "Free shipping (3-5 days)".

I don't order from them if I have a shred of doubt I might want to cancel.
