I installed "Windows Script 5.6 for Windows XP and Windows 2000" from microsoft then restarted and XP asked to search for drivers for the WinFast. I pointed it to the right folder and it says couldn't find the right driver. I tried putting it in another slot, same, and changing the slots IRQ from auto to something else (multiple times) nothing works. Something in the OS is raped for sure.
I Dl'ed the Script update because WindowsUpdate doesn't work (go figure) it just searches and searches forever.
Anyone run into something like this?

I had a similar problem with an e-Home Wonder and an nForce 2 or 3 board, I can't remeber which board it was or which Windows update borked it but swapping to a Via motherboard fixed the problem. Windows compatablity can be a bit flaky in certian cases.

The funny thing is the WinFast (the whole setup except for the second HD and videocard) has been the same for about eight years!
I tried some reregistering of some dlls but nothing seems to work. I uninstalled IE7 and reinstalled and that got Autoupdate to at least popup the tray icon but stays at 0%. I'll keep at it because I always use the WinFast to listen to music while I work. 😛

UPDATE: K Autoupdate is working! (BFD!) WinFast out and uninstall IE7 reinstall IE7 worked. Windows(and Microsoft) Update still is "Checking for the latest updates for your computer..." for eternity. At least I got updates I really needed. Ain't that saying the LEAST!? I'm going to put the WinFast in and mastecate...

UPDATE2: Wow that was fast! I got the WinFast working!! I forced the driver install. Typical Show all devices>Have disk>"Warning installing blah blah will give you multiple BSOD's and force you to buy Vista" = OK> point to driver folder pick either Audio or Video WFast drvr and wait! Restart and install PVR App = everythings COOL!!!!!!!! Listening to KROQ now! 😀
