How quiet is your case

So how quiet is your system?

Assuming that you have your case in your room, do you leave it on while your sleeping?

No matter what OS I'm running, I typcially like to shut it down before heading to bed, the fans are just too noisy.

How about yourself?

It's quiet enough that I can leave it on, so sometimes I leave my rig on, sometimes I don't, it all depends on how many WU's I have 🙂

Mine is almost dead silent now.... I love it when my Athlon 64 cpu fan stops running.... Made me feel sick the first time i watched it slow to a stop 😀

:Q!

The blue light on mine keeps me awake, so I shut it off.

Server and smoothwall are on 24/7, but they're in the closet so you can't hear them unless you have crazy hearing and the closet door is open. I have a POS machine I usually leave on all the time because I have all the IM and download clients running on it, but it only has one 80mm so it's pretty quiet. MediaPC and gaming rig are only on when in use, gaming rig is LOUD, I can hear it over my little fan on my nightstand.

I've got an antec sonata so it's pretty quiet. If it's doing something like converting home movies, I'll leave it on. GEnerally though it's off at night

My system is so loud, 7 total fans not counting my 6800GT which is loud to begin with... I don't mind sleeping with the fans humming though.

I don't sleep with my computer. Wife gets pissed. But I do like white noise. I often sleep with a fan on and the constant noise helps me sleep. I sleep bad if there is random noise though. If I lived in the dorms or apartment again, I think I would run 10 80mm fans to drown out the late night parties.

Lies!!!!

The sonata cases are quiet, but the fan on my ATI Radeon XT destroyes any quietness there is....

Don't assume just because it's a sonata system being used, that it's gonna be quiet 😛

I usually shut off my computer unless im downloading something. And if i turn down my fan speeds its barely noticeble.

PCs aren't in my bedroom, but I shut 'em down anyway, when not being used.

Been struggling against noise for years. I've replaced the PS fans with Stealth fans, CPU fans with Nidec blowers and recently swapped a high pitched Maxtor with a new fluid bearing Samsung. I'll sacrifice speed for quiet any day!

Was VERY pleasantly surprised by our recent HP Pavilion addition. The a530e uses an ASUS A7N8X-LA and takes full advantage of the 'Q-Fan technology'. It's even quieter than Dell's Dimension systems, and that's saying a lot!

I only hope this is the latest trend in PC modding. Didn't have much use for the lame case mod craze, with cute lighting and windows, but quiet solutions will get me to crack my wallet in a heartbeat!

I always turn my PC off before I go to sleep, but even if I left it on it'd only be a very quiet hum.

And I've got bigger things to worry about, like all the @#(*@ retards making noise in the hall at night when I have class early the next morning (which is every weekday).

Silent. I have about 4 fans, all running at about 1/2 the speed. My neighbours air conditioner outside and across the yard is louder than the PC which is 2' from me.

😀

My Dell PC is on the other side of my bed, about 5 feet. It is very quiet. It doesn't bother me at all if I leave it on and go to bed.

I have a Tornado on my HS and 4 80 mm Sunons in the case and I can sleep just fine with it on It does sound like a hair dryer on meth, though. *shrugs*

I have a 120mm Panaflo L running @ 5v, a super quiet SilenX 120mm and my Zalman ZM-400B's power supply 80mm NMB fan... that's it.
I'm a very light sleeper and I live in a very quiet neighbourhood so I can hear my sytem pretty easily, but comapred to most other people's systems, it's extremely quiet.

I sleep with my pc on...hd shuts off after 1 hour idle though....case light and winxp pro monitor logo serve as night lights......

I've got a Shuttle, and I keep it on while I sleep. A couple of days I had it in a spot with poor ventalation, but once I fixed that, the fan barely comes on.

Mine is about 7ft from my bed and i sleep with it on 99% of the time. I run F@H 24/7 and I have 2 80mm zalman's (1 front running in quiet mode, 1 rear running full) and a Zalman 7000Cu HSF. I have no problem sleeping whether it's running at 1400rpms or 2500. The loudest part of my system is my WD 80gig hard drive. And my temps are a full load 41-46 depending on fan speed.

My main (good) rig is pretty loud, I leave it on only rarely like if I'm encoding something while I sleep but I'm pretty much used to it for the most part. My other file server is always on though but its just a slow old p.o.s. that barley makes any noise.

The heat that my main rig puts out causes me more of an issue trying to sleep than the noise, it can get to be about 4 degrees warmer in my room when that PC is on.

That should read "My sonata systems..." I have 2 sonatas, an older antec, some no-name case, 4 SUN machines, 1 iBook, 1 Powerbook, and 1 Inspiron.

The inspiron's screen is screwed up, so it doesn't get run. The iBook runs 24/7 for now, but probably won't as soon as I pick up an airport express card. The SUN machines are currently not running, at another location. And my Sonatas are silent.

The powerbook is quiet too, but it goes with me so I shut it down.
