They designed that case with their own NT06 in mind. It actually fits I believe right up to the psu fan and therefore allows you use no fan on the cpu the psu will pull in all the air through the hs. Or use a duct for better performance. You can just buy a overhead cooler and turn the fan around... shouldn't be a big performance difference at all.

I was actually looking at the NT06. Problem is that I'm worried about its ability to effectively cool the cpu. The fact that there's no way for the mobo to control the fan speed worries me even more.

Do you think it would be possible to mount a fan on the underside of the NT06? I don't mind using wire braces or super glue 0.o.

One downside of using the NT06 though is that I can't use the zippy =/. Oh well.

I found a pic of the NT06 on a vertical plane and I using a ruler I figured I could get a 120x25mm fan to JUST fit under the HSF. I'd have to make custom brackets though. But that's nothing new for me =P.

So my setup would look like...

PSU /w 120mm fan sucking air in and out of case
^
NT06 heatsink fins
^
120x25mm fan
^
NT06 base

Airflow would follow those arrows. I SERIOUSLY doubt I'd get any clearance between the fan and the base of the HSF. I think it should be ok though considering the fact that I the HSF base only occupies a small portion of the 120mm fan's area.

Now... are there any issues with operating fans horizontally? I remember reading something from SPCR about fluid bearing fans being unable to operate with anything other than vertical orientations.

Btw, what do you guys think of my plan so far?

The NT06 *probably* will do well with 45cfm. The normal cool running cfm of a 400W Element is about 45~50cfm, so just do as they suggest. Use the PSU fan to draw air through the CPU's HS. Simple. :)

ahh... nice =D...

I guess I have those 2 factors figured out now.... now I have to figure out how to make the system invincible to malicious software 0.o They're attracted to my brother like elephants to peanuts. =/

Thanks for all your help guys.
