Actually, my state, NC, just turned purple. Latest poll shows it 46% - 46%. Only a few days earlier, it was clearly red (Trump +4%). Of the swing states, NC was considered safe for Trump when it was Biden vs. Trump.

The best poll in the state is for governor, which is 46% for the Democrat Stein, vs 36% for republican Robinson. Robinson, a black man that says women shouldn't have the right to vote, and that MLK was an inferior pastor and a communist. He also called the civil rights movement “crap”

And this is the best the republicans could find to run.

Footnote: he is the current Lt. Governor of the state, and part of the reason the current governor, Roy Cooper, withdrew his name as the possible VP choice. He didn't want to leave the state, so this fool could pull stunts as the "acting governor" when Cooper was not physically in the state.
A black man who says shit like that about MLK Jr. and the civil rights movement REALLY needs to read his history and see what his chances of holding such an office would have been without both.

I also live in Georgia.

I'm curious about something you Georgians.

A friend of mine moved down to GA like 2019ish because houses were cheaper there or something and climate better.

All was nice and rosy for a bit but he just told me recently GA is a giant scam. Apparently the bank instead of a traditional mortgage over 30 years.. wanted a "baloon payment" and there way no way he could afford it, so he lost his savings and everything. Now he lives in his cars.

Is this normal for that state? Unregulated banking/ mortgage industry that pulls shit like that??

Traditional mortgages are available in GA.

There's lots of R 's in the rural counties but California is very overwhelmingly blue because the big cities are. I don't recall seeing an R sign or bumper sticker anywhere near my town, Berkeley. However, I've been walking a lot lately for exercise and have been seeing a whole lot of Teslas. I have to think their resale value has slumped badly since Kamala's campaign was launched (hint, she was born and raised a mile from me!) and Elon has emerged as a serious R dick.

Tesla stock and vehicle resale value has dropped not because of Harris but because of musk being an openly racist and white supremacist POS (along with many other bad -ists). Turns out the people likely to buy those vehicles are one who don't want to be associated with him in any way.

NC is a possibility to flip based on how insane the GQP candidate for Governor is. It was a 1.2% difference in '20, that would be easy to make up if enough turn out to vote against the crazy guy (governor).

That almost sounds like a construction mortgage—short term, interest-only pmts during term, balloon pmt at end, which is usually refinanced into a conventional mortgage.

Willing to bet your friend left out a few details of his mortgage history.

Mortgages in GA are as federally regulated as any other state.

I'm in MD near DC and VA so it's super blue around here.

But when I go on fishing trips like 40 mins away in redneck areas, you get into some deep red parts of the state, with Trump flags everywhere.
Heck, I grew up in Arlington, Va. Just visiting my relatives outside of Charlotteville was like going to a different world.

Lived in Arlington (Ft Myers actually) for 2 yrs. It was a culture shock at first…sorta.

Grew up in Augusta, GA so not a totally backwater town. Had been to Boston and Milwaukee a few times growing up.

Used to smoke weed in Arlington National Cemetery at night. It was … different …

Only time I went inside Fort Meyer was when one of my friends in elementary school had a movie B'day party at the base theater.

Less than a week ago I happily posted that my state, NC, was changing from red to purple with Harris/Trump even. Now it's looking like NC is turning blue, with Harris 2 to 3 points ahead of Trump.

Just over a week ago, Trump was up +3. This is a huge swing of 6 points in 10 days.

Robinson isn't helping them either ... he was gonna be a drag no matter who was on top of the D ticket.
