I've considered getting that but I haven't yet. I would have to argue that I'm partially immunocompromised to qualify. I would probably win that argument, but I just haven't bothered yet. I have to deal enough with the insurance company as-is to get pre-approved and to find pharmacies that they'll cover. Maybe in a few years.
My HMO set me up with the RSV, got the shot there. Lady who administered said she figured I'm protected for life after that one shot. I have always tolerated vaccinations very well. Got a pneumonia vaccination a couple weeks ago. A bit of soreness in the arm for a day, then nothing.

The last time I have felt the least bit sick was Nov. 2019. All this protection from covid has helped keep me healthy.

I should get it too, but maybe too late? I got the Rona around the end of June (tested positive twice at home and at UrgentCare), and it took me out for almost two weeks. I rarely got sick this bad so the wife was freaking out.

Still cough a little and my lungs feeling tight. I have been using mask whenever i go out since. (grocery, airport, flying in the plane.. etc)

The strongest Covid immunity lasts 3 to 4 months. So, you should be set until late Sept to late October with some but diminishing immunity through the holidays. If I were you, I would wait until the winter Covid surge starts to be happening. Maybe mid-December if you wanted protection for the holidays.

Sorry you were hit so bad.

My wife (1st grade teacher) said both kids and teachers/administration are sick as all get out right now. She was sick all last week and got better by the weekend. Daughter who is in high school said alot of the kids there are sick as well. Lots of them have tested positive for covid apparently. My original plan was to wait till Oct/Nov but now I'm not so sure. Might have to try and get it sooner.

I have to re-do my pneumonia and shingles vaccines. (had zostavax and prevnar 13 in 2018) Both vaccines aren't considered "good" and getting the "new" versions is recommended.

I think I'm up to date on those. I had shingles in 1993, pretty nasty!

I always get a booster in the fall now and probably have gotten 6 or 7 shots since the pandemic began. That would put early October as my target date for my next COVID booster shot. Knowingly had COVID one time in late December 2021 - early January 2022 and it felt like I was gargling with razor blades for a week and some truly ugly sinus congestion. Actually the exact same symptoms of the allergies I have to cedar pollen which is nasty in the SA area from December through mid February, and a few weeks before thought I have COVID but it was allergies, as confirmed by 2 PCR tests. Then thought it was allergies again a few weeks later, nope, tested positive. I wouldn't be surprised if I have had COVID since but if I did it was mild to the point never even bothered testing. I don't mask up any more unless I feel a little sick (and if I feel more than a little sick just don't go out period).

This time the summer Covid wave coincided with the back-to-school season. The last few summer Covid waves were either smaller (2023) or already declining (2022) by the time school started. But not this time, we are in a medium to large wave that is increasing. Here I've drawn approximate back-to-school points on the Covid wastewater data:

Seems like if we could time the vaccines best, it would be late-June and early-November. But most of us just don't have the opportunity for the summer shot.

Got my flu and covid booster Tuesday night. Other than some soreness on my arms, I was fine until yesterday late morning. Started feeling like crap, went home early around 2pm and slept for a few hours. Feel fine this morning now.

I don't expect I'll have any problem with those two shots. I'm putting it off until a few weeks before a trip to a big family affair in mid-January. Maybe I'll pick up the flu shot in a couple of weeks when I go to my HMO but wait on the covid booster.

I seem to be having the side effects ~12 to ~20 hours after getting the vaccine. So, with the last two Covid boosters, I got them about 8 AM. I start to feel bad after dinner, sleep through it, and wake up the next day just fine. Same with my wife.

I have yet to feel bad after a covid shot and I've had every one I could get, IIRC, 8. In fact, I can't recall feeling bad after any vaccination in my life and I've gotten IIRC every one I could.

Covid shots, bit of a sore arm, in particular the 1st. Had a minimal fever after the first couple, but didn't feel sick. Haven't felt sick with anything since Nov. 2019, all this carefulness has paid off in that regard. I have a lot of N95's and wear one if there's any doubt.

Yeah last one I had didn’t kick my ass as much as the others. I think as we get exposed to it our bodies know how to handle it better thus it’s less of an alarm bell.

same, all the covid shots i got didn't really have any effect on me

the last flu shot though? oh boy. brutal.

edit: ha i forgot i posted about it in this thread. yeah, it look like 2 months to stop hurting my feet/legs.

so i'm really debating not getting the flu shot this year.

If you can, have that conversation with your doctor. Is the reaction you had after your last flu shot likely to mean you are allergic now? There may be alternative means of getting vaccinated. There's a new flu vaccine coming soon which you will be able to get at pharmacy, maybe without Rx, I can't remember, and you administer it yourself. That might be safe for you. Talk to doc.

Covid wut? I ain't scared of it no more. Covid is scared of me now. It infected me so many times that eventually my body told it to fuck off.
Impressive, maybe I’ll get there one day but unlikely. My last experience Covid told me to fuck off for like 2 weeks

Got my flu shot this week. I always get it, every year, for the last 2+ decades. Never once had any symptoms of the flu shot. But, it does affect different people differently.

This year, it seems less effective. Only 34.5 reduction in hospitalizations. https://www.beckershospitalreview.com/public-health/this-seasons-flu-shot-is-less-effective-cdc.html
Seems like they didn't choose the right strain to go up against.

Got the flu shot and the covid booster today. I wasn't sure about getting either, but my employer brings them in to do in a conference room, and I'm all about free stuff from work, so I got both. Unfortunately they were out of Spongebob band aids, I tore the Frozen one right off my arms ASAP afterwards ;)

I'd be insulted by anything other than a cowboy band aid.

Have not been vaccinated since grade school, but i wouldn't mind a box of cowboy band aids.

Wife and I have had the first 3 Covid shots each. No other boosters. Never had Covid. Been around and lived in the same house with family that had it. We get pneumonia shots each year. Haven't had pneumonia since 1983 in Basic Training.

Kept up with pfizer and boosters, got it last month and the flu shot.

Same for my dad and my wife.

My wife got COVID once on a plane and gave it to me before she realized it.. but we managed to not give it to my dad.

That was the biggest proof that N95 masks work!
