how?

The crating system in SW:G used to be pretty ... I had a weaponsmith, made the best weapons on the server. Made a profit of approximately 20-30 million credits a week (playing about 3-4 hours a day), which in turn I sold for $10 per million. Got bored/tired of it tho ... and then SOE fubared SW:G

To give u an idea, SW:G credits are now selling at $ .50 to the million

Aren't you competing against others to get a good account?

But the intention of the creators of the MMO is not for the end user to make money. I'm talking about sponsored instances where participants are intented to WIN something.

Waaaaay back in '92, I won a campus-wide tournament in college for the original NHL Hockey for Sega Genesis. The only thing I won was respect from the other dorks on campus. :)

Before there was MLG for Halo2 there was xboxclantourneys and other small timers. They have cleaned up, but there were gaming pools, mostly hosted on x-link kai (no affilication to the pools and tournies) the matches were 4v4 or 2v2 on small to medium sized original halo2 sized maps that were 10 per person to get in - 2nd place got their money back and 1st won the pot. A group of friends, called ourselves SS (SharpShooters) trampled competitors. These were normall 8 team games, twice a week; so were looking at 70 bucks a shot for some of the games. This went on for about 6 months, do the math and we made some good money. I was a lifeguard at the time but no doubt had they been more popular, maybe daily matches, we could have done well.
