Arizona signed him to his contract.
If their team is losing, and they are, and their management decides that they would be better off cutting him lose AND if Randy wants to waive his no-trade clause then who cares where he goes?
If they do decide to trade him, how many teams are going to want to pick up his $16.5 million contract for next season? Not very many could and even fewer would want to.

It'd make it even sweeter when they lose in the playoffs to a cheaper team.

Which is the point really. Randy Johnson is not an investment worth the cost for pretty much every team but the Yankees.

There is probably nothing on the planet that would concern me less than if the yankees get randy johnson.

That would suck. A-Rod *and* The Big Unit on the Yankees -- they might as well trade for Griffey and Ichiro and tear my heart right out of my chest.

<-- Mariners fan

They can sign however many big names they want. It'll just make it that much funnier when they lose in the playoffs to a team with one-fifth of their payroll. :D

I don't necessarily hold much stock in trade rumors from NY papers and ESPN. Alot
of it is just projections of what would be nice.

If you followed the rumors than Beltran and Garcia would also be Yankees, but they aren't.

However I won't argue that the Yankees have been going after Johnson, they have been
since the offseason. Now one problem I see is that Randy has stated he really doesn't want
to leave Arizona. He has his ring already so its not like that is a factor. So I really wouldn't be
surprised if he stayed there. However if he is traded, i think its a logical guess it would be to the
Yankees how would probably absorb most if not all of his contract.

Go Yanks! :p

That's the truth! The farm system is pretty bare.

Unfortunately.

Though, I was hoping we could at least hold on to Halsey for a while.

I want to see how he does against the Sox but I?m not going to be overly optimistic.
He gave up 5 hits and 5 walks to the Mets in 3 innings.

I could care less, after the a-rod trade I became a yankees fan because there's no other reason to root for any other team right now :p

A matchup of Halsey vs Martinez should definitely be interesting.

5 hits/5 walks against the Mets is disheartening, but you have to admire the kid's confidence. He seems like Yankee material if ya ask me. ;)
