How picky are you about stuff on your monitor?

How picky are you about fingerprints, smudges and other image distorting stuff on your monitor? Do you go nuts at the tiniest smudge or do you happily plod along on your computer with a big layer of crud on your monitor?

Me, I go nuts at the tiniest smudge. I don't know why, it just really bugs me so I try to wipe it off as fast and as good as I can with my special monitor cleaning kit.
 
My normal monitor gets NO TOUCH. This monitor has a few smudges on it. My NEC 21" has a shield on it that prevents fingers from coming into contact with the screen. That shield is permanently stained. I live in a house full of screen touchers and children.
 
I hate when I show something to someone on my computer and they use their fingers to point it out. Dumbasses.
 
Finger print smudges drive me crazy.

However I let dust accumulate for 2-3 months then I use a monitor wipe to clean the LCD.

We're an all LCD household except for my wife's Samsung 753DF CRT, awesome monitor for only $89 back in 2001.

My brother does that all the damn time. Thank god I don't have to share a computer with him anymore. There is practically an inch thick layer of fingerprints and other crap on his monitor.
 
Drives me insane. I dust off my CRT's screen once a week, since it attracts dust, and fingers on my monitor are a big no-no. When I had to share a computer at work with someone on another shift, used to drive me bonkers when I would have smears on my screen.

I can't stand all the crap CRTs attract. No sir, LCD for me all the way.
 
VERY! I get angry with anyone who feels the need to put their fingers on my monitor to point to something. Just point, don't touch!

You should invent an electric force field that shocks anyone who put's their fingers to close to the screen of your monitor. I'd buy one in a heartbeat if the price was right. Parents, this is good electric shock therepy to teach your kids not to touch computer monitors. 😀

Never ever ever use Windex to clean a monitor. Windex has amonia, a strong toxic chemical that can damage the coatings on monitors. Definately get monitor wipes or some other cleaning solution designed ONLY for computer monitors.

 
Dust I don't usually mind so much, as I generally use my computer at night, and thus it takes a load of dirt to make it noticeable. I'll clean that off maybe once a month or so.

But fingerprints I HATE. Anytime one of my roommates uses my computer, and points to stuff on the screen, I cringe. I then tell them to back up off the monitor, and point but don't touch.
