The last few days I have seen incredible vile and extreme comments on Youtube (yes I know...) by Trump supporters which now 100% confirm to me that a number (many?) of Trump supporters *ARE* extreme racists.
When I say "racists" I mean it in the worst way, people who have no problem commenting how they'd wish hanging/killing Mexicans, Liberals etc.
It blows my mind because this more than obvious extremism (even if it only happens in people's minds on a fricking Internet board or on YT) usually comes together with claims that Trump (and his supporters) "are not racists" because it's allegedly just "against the illegals" and it won't affect the other, 'good' Mexicans. (So basically a fake, pseudo justification that the racism is justified).
What totally blows my mind is a number of Latinos who openly say they support Trump (amidst the most vile, outright extremist/racist comments) because those Latinos THINK that they're "better than the illegals".
It usually goes like this: "I support Trump because my family came here legally and I don't support those leeches either who come here illegally"
"I support Trump and his 'immigration plan' because my family did a lot 'for America', we worked hard, so we're sure the better Latinos and we don't support the freeloaders."
The gist here is that some Latinos think that racism would exclude them.
Obvious problem: Racism doesn't work like this.
A racist/extremeist won't look at a Latino or a Black person or a liberal, or [insert whatever here] and then hand them a questionnaire first to decide whether their hate is justified. They obviously believe that...
On a side-note, let's just speculate Trump would really become president....I fear this country (I fortunately don't live there any longer) will literally explode. I see riots and worse coming, at a level we've never seen before.
** I also find it noteworthy to mention that the hate against Mexicans is usually also paired with hate against liberals, "leftists", progressives etc...and sure we can add gays there too..basically all parts of society which are disliked by the ultra-right. If you think the nation is "divided" now, I think we haven't seen anything YET....
