I used to think my early 50s. My dad died in his early 50s and so did four of his brothers. So I took out 20 year term life insurance in my early 30s to protect my wife and daughter in case the same happened to me. I still have years left on that policy. Hopefully I won't die and my wife won't be able to collect and we'll grow old together into our 80s. That's my dream.
I'll leave this for your consideration....

Here is food for thought.

We all have 32,850 days from birth to 90. That's it. Take your current age, time 365. Take that total and subtract that from 32,850. That is how many days you have left. If you want you can even take it down to 80 years, since most of us won't see 90. Lets be realistic. So, 10x365 is 3650. 3650 minus 32850 is 29,200. Take that number and subtract your total. It's not much, and when you think about your life in days instead of years you come to the realization that it's so short. It's also not meant to be depressing but to wake you up because most of us sleep walk thru life. Not really awake until it's too late.

mom was 85, dad 63
both smoked, dad was a hard core high tolerance alcoholic up to the last 3 years. I will go with 80.

Must be all that poutine!
I only recently had poutine for the first time. It's not really the type of food I crave, but I ordered it because I was in a Canadian restaurant. I can definitely see that killing off people.

I'm guessing 80s, but only because medical science can probably keep me alive if I don't get hit by heart attack or cancer....or dementia (because at some point, that care gets too expensive to be effective and many care takers don't really care when you can't communicate and don't have a youthful essence)

No idea. When I was younger I just could not see myself like in my 60s or something. I'm 37 Friday and I still think it's weird.

But I've quit drinking and quit smoking so that'll help. I dunno, based on family history, maybe into my 80s. Yikes.

Momento Mori: You Can Leave Life Right Now.

I have this coin. It's a reminder that nothing is forever, and to not take life too seriously.
