I got mine a few days after i was born. Still have it, although my dad did not read the back because he had it laminated which it clearly says "laminating will void card". 😱

Got mine when I was born or shortly there after. I've always had one for as long as I remembered, even though I was born before 1986

got mine when i was a weee little baby i believe. i know my sister did because i saw the paperwork when she was born. don't remember about my brother tho.

Before 1986, people often did not have a Social Security number until the age of about 14, since they were used for tax purposes and those under that age seldom had remunerative employment. In 1986, American taxation law was altered so that individuals over 5 years old without Social Security numbers could not be claimed as dependents on tax returns. Since then, parents have often applied for Social Security numbers for their children as soon as they were born

i was born 4-20-86, seems the SSN at birth is a new thing the began with my generation.

I guess I was probably 5 when I got mine then.

If I post my SSN, can someone look it up and check?

😛

Not sure when I actually got mine, I was born in 79. I had to learn it when I got to 7th grade, they said they were going to be used as student ID numbers, but never ended up happening that way.

my mom applied for mine a little while after i was born.

My son was born 6 weeks ago, we filled out the form at the hospital and received his information about 4 weeks later.

ill also need your full birth given name and your mothers maiden name, then i can look it up for you. 😉

also, does anyone know why some cards backgrounds are white while others have the blue background?

I think I was 8 years old when I got mine. I remember I had learned cursive writing not too long before I got it and I messed up the first letter of my first name and blacked it out and rewrote it underneath the line.

15 years old. My parents waited until the last minute. LOL

And I was born here. My parents just waited until the government made them get SSNs for me and my brothers.

That's probably not safe, PM it to me with your bank account numbers & routing numbers, largest assets in your name, and your current household address with phone number.
