I can't think of any state here in the US where the driving age isn't 16, but I heard that might change in some state. I may be wrong though. Anyone know different?
I was 15 when I bought an '84 Dodge Colt from my step-brother for $50. I was supposed to bring it in to the school auto shop to repair the suspension, but my friends and I drove it around illegaly until the plates expired, then I abandoned it in a parking lot. It was not a safe car, and I was a lucky fool, cause nothing bad ever happened.
I bought my first "good" car when I was 17. My Dad's '86 Dodge Omni. It wasn't too bad but the engine started to go at only 135,000 miles. Since then, I've had 11 Japanese cars, most with well over 150,000 miles each, and none with any engine troubles ever.
