22, I was stopped at a light, driving my 56 Chev Sedan Delivery.
A car load of drunken sailors rear ended me at 30 mph. They were looking for hookers.
I just had time to put both feet on the brake pedal and lay across the front seat.
Tore the seat out, I did not get hurt. They sure did though........🙂

We got hit in the driver's side by a loaded log truck doing 60. My mom had 5 holes in her lungs, 11 strokes, all ribs broken, her teeth broken and stuck in her throat, and most of her extremities broken. I wasn't wearing a seatbelt. It broke my arm and bent my hip.

She was pretty badly handicapped mentally and physically. She was in a coma for about a month. Over the years my dad got her able to walk with a cane, but she fell while using it and broke her hip.

When I was 14 we put her in a nursing home. When I was 16, they apparently didn't give her enough water and she died from impaction. Her bowels and kidneys hardened and failed. She died a few weeks later.

Edit: I was 16, not 17.

The accident happened on Sept 11, 1989. Kind of weird.

First accident while driving? Does sliding into a snowbank count? If not, then I havent had one yet. *knock on wood*

8 or so, woman crossed into our lane and hit us head on (she was in a mid sized car, we were in a full sized suburban..... she lost. But she maneged to crack the block of our car

🙁 🙁 🙁 It is one of my biggest fears in life: To become handicapped to that extent. . . . I would always pray and beg for relief . . . from the suffering.

I was 20 at the time. Traffic was crawling. We were about to exit to our usual route when a big pick-up truck just went *bam!* At first, I thought it was the driver just being silly. (We were in the middle of a conversation when that happened.) I said, "Stop jerking the car; my head is hurting!" 😱 She's all, "It's not me!" Then I realised what had happened. I was surprised that the SUV wasn't that strong to withstand the hits. The entire rear window was shattered, as as well as some metallic parts. There was a third car involved. The car in front of us was a sports car, so the effect impacted upon it was worse than upon us. The driver (a lady) rushed out of the car. At the end, everyone was safe. I had a pounding headache, but I recovered early! I was glad to be alive and well, with all of my body parts intact. I had a premonition . . . an intuition that something would happen that day. I kept warning the driver to be careful 'cuz I was afraid we would get into an accident [on that day]. I was glad that the driver was not at fault, in spite of the fact that an accident did occur. I'm thankful everyday that it wasn't worse.

In my 50 dollar Corvair with bald tires. I went around a corner in the rain, the rear tires lost traction and I creased the side of another car. 🙁

16: pulled a 360 on a highway in the first snow storm as a driver. ended up in a ditch, luckily no one got hurt, not even a scratch on the car.. *phew

21: hit a deer coming back home from college at 80mph. pulled a 180 on the highway and stopped in the dead middle of the road facing backwards while cars passed me by.. crazy $4g in damages..

other than that 😀

wow, seems like the majority of the people's responses indicate an accident during their teens.

I'm 19 and have been in no real accidents. I've only bumped people bumper to bumper going like 2-3mph into a stationay vehicle. 😱
both times I was entering or leaving a parking spot, I get too close lol.

Ditto. But ummmm... I did lock myself out of my car once. Does that count?

18.. drove in snow and umm... slid out of control but thankfully no cars were around me.

Recently... pulling out of driveway... didnt pay attention and hit side of a brick wall...a big ol scratch on the rear side bumper :-( bah!! didnt get it repainted yet cause im cheap and broke.

16, a few weeks after I got my license. I ran a yellow light and got hit by a old woman making a left turn. when the police came, my sister claimed the charge 🙂. they would make that 100% my fault, if I took the charge  what a bastard I am.
we went to court and won, hard to determine whose fault.

second accident was 2 months ago, I was the passenger.

My driver's ed teacher told us of the story where his wife is now handicapped for life because another driver with bald tires on snow hit her. It was quite sad. We actually stopped by his house one day for a quick break during our driving session and his wife happened to come out and serve us some iced tea. What a nice lady. I wish things like that can't happen to nice people... but it does.

16. Actually it was 6 days after I got my license. I still had the paper license. Great! The state trooper filled out the paperwork, and I looked and in the spot to put my license, it was blank. I felt like such a doofus. I was headed to a Timberwolves game. I was going to be sitting next to a girlfriend of one of the twolves. She gave the ticket to my mom to give to me.

*Kicks self for totally mom's car and missing game.*

16. Not at fault. Got rearended by a guy in an suv that wasnt paying attention. I dont know why but the police didn't file a formal report and my lawyer and his ins. co are still swapping paper work back and forth. It's been over two years and the case isn't over yet. his insurance companys trying to deny the fact.
