Hehe, I recently did a search for my oldest Usenet postings and found one dated Oct 1, 1995. 14 and cruising the Net with the pioneers baby. :p Started on computers in general much earlier than that though.

HC, what technical area interests you? Most people don't consider the ability to assemble a PC grounds for admission into the geek nation - it goes a lot further than that, but I don't know if I can define it precisely.

I'm 30 and have had a computer since I was ~12 but had no real desire or time to figure out how they work until about a year ago. I don't know how technical your wanting to get (I'm not making processors in my basement) but everything was easy to learn. I was an electronics tech in the military so that probably helped a little. Now I have become bored with hardware/software and usually only post in OT. I look at the other forums and go "oh, not that question again" and leave. I might get interested again when some of the newer/different hardware comes out.

Got my NES when I was 3 and I've been gaming since then. I didn't get into computer hardware until '98 or so.

I'm 20 now, btw.
