At 20 (and female) is it too late for me to dive into the technical? I rarely wander away from the warm haven of OT because I know one step would put me out of my depth.
 
Born in '82, got a C64 in god knows when and always played around on my uncle's Amiga...I don't even remember when that was~ 😕

and to answer your question... nope! still young enough to learn quickly and easily 🙂 it comes easier to some people than others though, and i think much of that comes from either how they were raised or just the way they were born, so if it's like the most difficult thing in the world for you then maybe it's not really worth the trouble.
 
Still not geek. I know a little about computers, and how to build one, but I'm definately not knowledgeable in the computer technology area.

I've never been maladapted to learning about technology, but I was never in an environment where I really had an opportunity or motivation to learn much beyond how to use it and level 1 troubleshooting.

BTW, my first PC was a Tandy RL1000 with only a floppy drive, and an OS you loaded from floppies.

2400bps modem using Compuserve was my first interweb experience, but there was no interweb available, only SLIP type internet services.😛
 
The interest started around first grade with the original doom and wolfenstien, but I really didn't learn much more than use until 13 or so.
 
got my first computer when i was 4, have not been ungeeky since, went total geek in 7th grade, when i abandoned all of my friends and turned to the computer, to date, i am a senior in HS and since 8th grade i have only had friends over a total 5 times. so i am 100% geek, but at least the bulk of the time that person was a female, but after the last "incident" no chance of that happening again anytime soon


and yes, im an isolationist and antisocial

i got an hour lunch break at 12:30 just about every day.... come by campus much?
 
I was but a wee young impressionable young lad and took a basic programming course at Sunrise Junior High in Clackamas Oregon. We learned on those archaic apple IIe machines.... spy hunter and Canons (Castles) was the game...

I programmed a bunch of text based games... my development team was "Team Dildo" and I kicked ass.

Although I'm not really a geek these days..

It happened for me when I was in 8th grade got my first pc it was a celeron 333mhz with 32megs of ram, 4 gig hard drive, 4x dvd-rom, and built in graphics. That was about 6 years ago, i was a regular internet user though starting in 6th grade. So ive been using pc's for 8 years and didnt start taking pc's apart until my floppy drive broke on my first pc which was like 4 months after i bought it.
 
I started to get interested in them when I was a freshman in high school (I was 14) but that was mainly posting on BBSes and that sort of thing, not any sort of hardware or anything. I didn't get much into building computers until I got to college three and a half years ago.
