I heard of satan claus from dana carvey doing the church lady church chat thingy, it was a christmas episode...."hmm lets rearrange these letters..hmm what could that spell..hmmm... could it be...SATAN!"

but santa claus was never a big thing in my home... never really believed in it, but had cousins that did until they were 12.:Q

When I was 8, I asked my mom point blank and she told me the truth. She explained that it was all part of the fun, and even though I was a little pissed at first, I got over it. I had a few years of fun with it, and when the time came for it to be over, I understood that my parents loved me and wanted me to enjoy a little childlike wonder. Christmas presents started to mean even MORE when I realized that my parents where the ones making the sacrifices to do something nice for me.

Frankly, I think fantasy and imagination are the best parts of childhood.

Anyway, no debates. Just my .02. You can fight amongst yourselves!

edit: Just to clarify... If it is against your religion, fine... just don't call those of us who like the tradition 'evil'! Everyone should be allowed to express the joys of the season however they want, be they Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Atheist, or those celebrating Kwaanza... Just be happy, darn it!

sweetrobin,

Bwahahaha! You sure did screw yourself over by telling your parents you wanted stuff you really didn't. You should've done it the other way around. Some smart 5-year-old you were! ;)

Now for my story...

I was about 5, and I decided I would hide under the sofa on Christmas Eve and wait for Santa. I eventually fell asleep. Well, I was awoken by my parents wrapping presents and such. I can't remember if I was angry or not, only that I didn't want to get caught. I never did, and I still haven't told my parents about it to this very day.

When I was a wee lad, my mom took me to mall. Fascinated by the lights in the center of the mall, sat the fattest man of all! "Look mommy!!" I said, "is that..." to which she replied, "Honey, why don't you go sit on his lap and find out?". Gazing at her cynical eyes I struggled to escape her death grip. I shouldn't. I wouldn't. I couldn't. I kicked and I screamed as I was thrusted into the bearded one's arms, landing not only a foot to the fat man's face, but popping his ear drums at the same time with the shreik that would put an out-of-tune diva to shame. It was when "santa" said, "You **** ****ing m*tha f*cka, I'm gonna kill you, you little sh**" that I knew that santa...

has been dead for a really long time, replaced by an elite group of men posing as Santa Claus. Warning, there are MANY of these so cold Jolly, Old Saint Nick's out there. Be cautious of your surrounding, and never give in to their propaganda.

I had it pretty much figured out by the time I was 8 or 9. I remember being 11 and telling my brother who was 8 at the time what the real deal was. Boy was my mom pissed at me....

My parents never lied to me about Santa Claus. I always knew where the gifts for me came from.

My cousins didn't like me being the spoilsport for this myth.

BTW, my parents saved an old newspaper with a comic that had a typo "Santa" misspelled as "Satan". Doubly funny.

So what's the rationale for parents to lie to their kids in the 1st place? I think I'd want to claim the credit for giving covert presents instead of giving the credit to an imaginary Santa.
My family isn't even christian, so there's no such lies being thrown around when I was small. I remember that I had no respect for any kid that believed that cr@p about Santa though. I would think they're idiots and make fun of them.
Yeah, I had no consideration for people when I was small.
