Well, you'll need more of it ;)
Never read anything about any kind of interaction.

Around 30 or so. Things start going downhill at 25 for guys in general. Around that age, your metabolism slows down = you get fat, you lose hair, your skin ages and you start getting things like wrinkles and grey hair....Oldness sux :(

26-ish. Waffled for a year about whether I was "really" thinning and receeding or if it was just normal before I decided it was time for Propecia. I have very thick hair now and it is not receeding. Only side effect that I'm aware of is that it changed the consistency of my ejaculate. And if that wasn't too much information, I don't know what is. I'm fatter and not as horny as I used to be, but my diet sucks and I'm older, too, so I can't correlate that.Given your own personal neuroses, I'd suspect that your biggest concern would be weight gain. Personally I'd recommend trying it for 6 months. I saw results in 3.

Well hey I don't have sex anyway so who cares. Might as well try it. How much does that run you? I am guessing you have to continually use it.

Hmm .. let me know if you need any help with that :p

Propecia is 1mg of finasteride, IIRC its something ridiculous like $3 a tab. When you talk to your doctor, have him prescribe Proscar, which is 5mg of the same drug for about the same price. Buy a pill splitter and cut the tablets into 4 and take 1 every day, and it works out to less than $1 a day.

If you stop using it, yea, you will start to lose hair again (so I've read) but if you forget and skip a day (which I probably do at least once a month) it's not like it's all going to fall out on you :)

I am on propecia for the third day. My family has thin/non-thick hair I had thick hair when I was young and I think it started going thinner when I was about 15. I started getting well tired of it and decided on Propecia + Rogane as my dermo prescribed.

I know about the side affects as someone was worried about not getting it up, so you pop a little blue pill. I don't have those side effects so I'm fine. Other ones include breast tenderness and testicular pain which I have not experienced yet.

Edprush what's there to worry about really? Rogaine will help grow/keep your hair from falling out and that has no real side effects its only the propecia that will give you the downer.

Who knows if its the shampoos we use today if its not causing the problem with "baldness/thinning" since it might be really harsh on the hair.

I know many body builders use finasteride, and I have never heard of them complain of bad side effects (despite reported clinical side effects).

Apparently there is another less well known side effect of finasteride that has not been well publicized. The way propecia/proscar works is by inhibiting the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is the chemical that first appears during adolescence, and causes the growth of hair all over one's body; it is also responsible for causing baldness. Now when DHT levels are low, hair in other areas of the body may start thinning.

Cliffs:
Most body builders do not report any side effects from propecia.
Propecia may cause body hair to fall out of other parts of one's body (I think this is a good side effect)

I tried Rogaine but it gave me gigantic dandruff. I had never had dandruff prior.

It's the side-effects of Propecia that scare me.

Let us know how you're doing after 3 months......

Good luck.

I have read and heard the same thing in the past.

I cannot wait!

This really should be a priority for researchers. Imagine how much money the 'cure' will be worth.

But I would put money on that it will never happen in any of our lifetimes.

What are these side effects of propecia that you speak of?

Well, a month and a half since I first posted in this thread, I'd like to report that I've still experienced no significant hair loss... :p

Ha Ha!

My dad is 68 and has a full head of (grey) hair. No one in my family has ever had a receding hairline as far as I know.

The dermo stated that the Rogaine will grow and retain the hair. The reason why bodybuilders use Propecia/DHT is because a certain steroids could be masked by the use of DHT. If you follow hockey, Josee Theodore from the Montreal Canadiens is on DHT but they stated that a certain steroid could not be detected when using DHT.

The type of steroid being talked about is the one body builders use and is masked by DHT.

Hmm thinning of body hair? Honestly even by body hair isn't even "thick" Not that it is a problem now if it would come off its one more added bonus.

I do notice some dry scalp issues when using Rogaine honestly, but I had some dandruff before.

Note that if you got a receding hairline propecia and rogaine does not help.
