I'm fatter and not as horny as I used to be, but my diet sucks and I'm older, too, so I can't correlate that.Given your own personal neuroses, I'd suspect that your biggest concern would be weight gain. Personally I'd recommend trying it for 6 months. I saw results in 3.

Well hey I don't have sex anyway so who cares. Might as well try it. How much does that run you? I am guessing you have to continually use it.

Hmm .. let me know if you need any help with that :p

Propecia is 1mg of finasteride, IIRC its something ridiculous like $3 a tab. When you talk to your doctor, have him prescribe Proscar, which is 5mg of the same drug for about the same price. Buy a pill splitter and cut the tablets into 4 and take 1 every day, and it works out to less than $1 a day.

If you stop using it, yea, you will start to lose hair again (so I've read) but if you forget and skip a day (which I probably do at least once a month) it's not like it's all going to fall out on you :)

99% of them can't grow it anywhere but on their heads though.

25. Got a haircut, stylist put the mirror up so I could see the back of the hair cut and I noticed skin. That was like 3 weeks ago.

Is there anything other than Propecia that's worked for any of you guys?

Funny you should ask. I just noticed a 2" gray hair today. That thing was like a wire.

Mine turned baby fine at 15-16 years old. It's all there, but you can still see the scalp under strong light. Does not bother me anymore. I'm 38 now.

I've noticed mine has been thinning out over the past few years. I started to get grey hair at about 17 (now 22). It is still sparse (though noticeable if you look). *sigh*

DUDE!!:Q

High School Graduation pics STAT!!

Yeah, I'd like to see that as well. 16 is a bit young to be losing your hair.

Sadly, I was beginning to visibly bald just before I turned 15. I was largely bald by the time I graduated high school. I definately did not have any bangs. Now I shave my head, I'm 25 and have little to no hair.

Well, no hair is cool. You can take your choice, brains OR hair. I still have enough hair that when I wear a ballcap (ALWAYS wear hat outside to reduce the very real skin cancers so prevalent today) people dont know me...

Alopecia is a hereditary trait men get from their mothers genes. Has little to do with father...except if father also passed along excess androgen gene to you.

Ps I'm not losing hair, I'm:

1) collecting it in the shower drain
2) gaining face
3) counting both of them
4) follicularily challenged

I am on propecia for the third day. My family has thin/non-thick hair I had thick hair when I was young and I think it started going thinner when I was about 15. I started getting well tired of it and decided on Propecia + Rogane as my dermo prescribed.

I know about the side affects as someone was worried about not getting it up, so you pop a little blue pill. I don't have those side effects so I'm fine. Other ones include breast tenderness and testicular pain which I have not experienced yet.

Edprush what's there to worry about really? Rogaine will help grow/keep your hair from falling out and that has no real side effects its only the propecia that will give you the downer.

Who knows if its the shampoos we use today if its not causing the problem with "baldness/thinning" since it might be really harsh on the hair.

Myusername is there a problem with using hair mousse and hairspray when being on the pill and rogaine? I couldn't find anything on that subject, just wanted to know if you read about it.

No loss yet

I'd rather gray early rather than bald early. It's much easier to color gray hair than it is to make new hair appear on you head.

However, despite the fact that I'm bald, I do have the luck of having a very hairy chest and back (which I actually do shave it got so bad).

If that happened to me I'd be burrowed in the ground somewhere sucking my thumb for at least 6 more months.
