I just found a Winsock config file from 1997 buried in a backup folder I hadn't touched in years.
Blast from the past

I think I may have a few files left over from when I was in high school (graduated 2002). I'll have to check when I get home.

I have a few text files from the mid-90's, but MOST of my older stuff is stored on floppies or zip disks...:p

A quick look found a file from a Lotus 1-2-3 spreadsheet from 1991. I think some of the files are even older than that, but the Date Modified was updated when I converted them to excel files.

pretty sure I could easily find a file dated 1-1-1980 in my old DOS games folder. whether that's a real date or not, who knows. but certainly some of those executables were last modified circa 1982. if we're talking data files that i personally edited, then we have to jump up to maybe 1990.

I have my old 486 HD backed up on my main rig. The files go back to about 1993.

I have poems that I wrote back in '96 still on my backup drive. Some from earlier, but they were written on paper and transcribed later.

Essays and other written assignments from Grade 8 (1996-1997), done in Microsoft Works. When I got my main machine 2 years ago, I copied over the files from my old PC, some stuff still on my parent's PC, and a bunch of old CDs and floppies I had backed up.

Unfortunately, even after being stored in a plastic case in various desk drawers over a 10 year period, some of the files on the floppies were corrupted. I was able to recover over 95% of the files I think.

Now they're on my HD, and backed up to an external HD along with my photos and more recent documents .

I've used the same outlook file years over many computers, however given when you create a copy the file create date is always when it's created 'on' that new hard drive it's not what it should be, anyway you can always edit file timestamps. :)

I think I still have a few old bitmaps from 1993 when I was wow-ing at MsPaint. I was pretty young back then, and MsPaint is still awesome.

I think I have some of my old pascal source code from my junior year of high school late 96. I also somewhere have old duke3d maps a friend and I made the summer of 96. I may still have some of our Doom2 maps on one of my hard drives, those would date back to 1994.

6th grade 1998?. Webpage. I don't think I kept much more from my earlier computer because I know I did hit the reformat button before installing Windows 98 (and that was well after XP was out)
