Almost 22 and I wouldn't know a job if it kicked me in the face. I make most decisions myself but the larger ones I run by them. They said they are cutting me off at 25 though.

I had just graduated from college and was not receiving parental support in any way. They also did not give me orders or intervene in my decisions,

I'm 20 and financially independent of my parents, OTOH I know plenty of people that will probably be dependent well into their 30's (tough to save money when you spend $10,000 a month on clothes, food and entertainment)

Now, I'm 21 and asserting that I'm old enough to make my own decisions would never even cross my mind. I completely take that for granted - of course I make and am responsible for my decisions. But then, I'm 2 years out of college and working already, so am I not the norm?

At 21, what are/were you doing? Were you on your own completely as an adult or were you still, in effect, a kid?
In America, people have the 'freedom' to make their own decisions at 18/21. I don't necessarily think that I myself or anyone else my age has the cognitive or emotional maturity to really make these decisions but what can you do?

I don't understand how you are two years out of college tho? Did you go to college early?

She's pretty smart.

Financially independent and able to make my own decisions in all areas

Although, I didn't have much money and I made a lot of bad decisions. Learned from every one of them, though.

I'd say i'm just about an adult at 21 and a half. Probably more intelligent then a lot of older people, but am still childish to choose the wrong just because its what I want.

Of course, I've been living on my own since i moved away from home at 18 for college and pay my own bills.

I thought you just turned 15 or 16?

Did you not post a thread saying you just turned one or the other like two weeks ago?

He's in college at UC Davis. I've met him. In fact, I sporked his apartment about 3 years ago. :)

:Q I remember that!

:( I'm still not well known enough on the board. Maybe I should start another spork war, or maybe bring back the monkey dance? I have been slowing down on my posts ever sine world of warcraft...

On my 21st Birthday:

graduated from HS
I had served 3yrs in the US Army
I had an 18-mnth old daughter
was preparing to enroll in college full time

I was most definitely making my own decisions!

At 18 I had my own place with 2 friends. 6 months later I moved back in with my dad because his house was about to be taking away.

So at 19 years old I would like to think I'm pretty mature.

As for "How old is 21?". It's really up to the person. Some people can be independent and some can be complete idiots. My buddy is 24 and acts like he is 16. Always asking his parents for money.
