is there an age requirement? I'm 17.
is the requirement different for some companies?
if the requirement is above 17, is there any special way I could still get one, such as having my parents call or fax something or whatever?

what other options (camp grounds, etc) are there and do they have age requirements?

I know that your parents can step in/reserve the room/guarantee it with CC/pay for it with CC by faxing copy and authorization if you're in the 18-21 age range, because I've done it (days inn, I think), and tell you the truth, I don't believe they asked me how old the kids were.. so that might work.. what do you have to lose really.. have your mom or dad call and see if they can make a reservation for you. I was pretty up front about it, I just called and told 'em my daughter and a friend needed a room for the night and neither of them had a credit card, could I make the reservation for them and pay for it, and they told me how to make it happen.

If you can find an INDEPENDANT motel/hotel you might be able to get away with it.

I'm sure that a regional/national chain would require that you are 18 or 21, with drivers license and major credit card.

I think it depends on the hotel.

freshman year of college, when I was still 17, I never had a problem renting a room at a local hotel. they never asked for ID or anything. just paid in cash and was out by the morning.
