How old are your oldest MP3s?

Late 1996 I was downloading MP3s from Tek on a Texas A&M server. I believe that a Van Halen song was the first that I downloaded, but Ugly Kid Joe - Cats in the Cradle came shortly after.

Remember when Metallica sued a bunch of Napster users? A few months older than that. My Napster collection sits among my Audiogalaxy collection which sits among my Morpheus collection which sits among my Kazaa collection which sits dwarfed among my torrents collection which sits dwarfed by my... collection from other sources.

My first mp3s were some Manowar CDs that I ripped back in Late 1996 or early 1997. I don't remember when. They are no longer on my hard drive, but I'm sure I've got them burned to a CD somewhere.

Old enough that 128kbps could not play on most pentium computers due to insufficient processor speed. The Pentium Pro 200 with 512KB L2 handled them fine, however.

Some of you are retards, the question is not how old are the songs you have in MP3 format, but how old are the MP3's.

I have some from 2000 when I ripped my whole collection. Luckily everything is backed up now, fits on 4 dvds.

Now lets talk *albums*. Ever heard of them, those round looking vinyl disks. 😛

Then it would be Don McLean's American Pie.

I do love my albums, won't part with them. I would like to get my *record player* back in working order, just need to fiddle with it a bit.

Album for me? Amoung my typical rock, old Elvis album, mint condition, had it looked at, worth $300.00. Not an Elvis fan, friend of mine gave it to me, saw the condition of it, knew it had to be worth something. The album itself is pristene. Cannot just sell that at a garage sale for 1 dollar. No.

probably 97ish. i remember it was an mp3 of laputa... mp3 was like h264 is now, many pc's couldn't handle it. i could play it in winplay at 1/4 quality mono🙁 #@% 486.. but its potential was damn kewl🙂
