how often should I use my extra battery?

Hi folks, I am new in this forums. I’ve been used my S4 for over 3 months. My friend gave me an extended battery recently. It was a mpj and worked really great, but my stock still runs pretty good and I don't want to carry a second as i am mostly near charging points. So I would like to use it when travelling.

My question is whether extra battery will die if it is not used often enough and how often is enough? Many Thanks for your reviews and valuable suggestions

How to store batteries.


One thing, don't let them completely discharge in storage, that will usually hose a battery (or at least damage the capacity significantly).

Leave it 50% charged indoors.

I leave my original GNex battery unused for months and it hardly discharges (> 90% when I finally do have to use it).
