how often do you wash you car?

I got a little hypothesis, it is actually bad to wash your car too much, coz the layer of dirt is actually acting as a protective shield against dirt, dust, and small rocks that may scratch your car... ? ?

every time it rains, it washes itself. that way i save lotsa money😀

btw, anyone know the next time it's gonna rain? 😀

Usually every other week. But since I got layed off I've been doing it weekly, it's good at killing time 🙂

wax protects the paint dude. Dirt/acid rain eats the wax. When the wax is gone, so starts the removal of paint.

Keep your car waxed (no less than every 6 months have it buffed), and wash that frequently, never go to touch-style car washes. Hand wash, keep it waxed, the paint will look like new when the car is 10 years old. You can tell who takes care of their cars by how the paint looks when its old....

I wash my car every other weekend, and it remains a beaut. I use that TurtleWax Extreme Car Wash & Wax concentrate (something like $4/gal. @ Sam's Club). I've also learned with washing my car later in the day (when the sun has almost set), drying it thoroughly with "The Absorber" (picking up any stray water drips after first-pass of drying), parking it immediately in the garage after a wash, and other-wise leaving it in the garage (esp. after 8PM, or so, when mist starts falling/accumulating) throughout the day when it's not used, I've been able to keep it in good condition between washes---almost so that the 2-week wash isn't even necessary! 😉 🙂

That's a new one... 😀

Wash????????????????????
with wahter????
That's why GoD invented rain.
😉

seriously it all depends on if what is under the crud
is worth revealing
In other words
rust buckets should be left in their natural state
and 30k and up SUVs should be washed hourly
😀

I wash my brother's Maxima whenever it gets dirty and my other brother washes his Beamer like every other day, even though he drives it like once a month. =P

okokok... nevermind then... I will go wash my car like NOW
(last time I did it was 6 weeks ago, and in between I drove to San Fran from LA twice and took on the Muholland drive 🙂 )

They need to offer a color of car called "lazy". It should be a cross between mud and salt, and be able to disguise bird droppings. Also, an interior that can be cleaned with a garden hose would be nice.

Depends on weather forecast (won't wash if it's raining tomorrow) and time of year (can't wash when it is 20 degrees). I'll wash my car no more than twice a week, and over the year, I average about once a week. I love clean, shiny cars...makes you stick out in a positive way.

No matter how hard I try, I can never build up enough dirt to protect the winshield or the leading edge of the hood of my Toyota PU. Those rocks from the gravel trucks just punch on thru. After 10 years of road wear, it looks battle weary. I love it, the sound of the Toyota starting in the morning, it sounds like victory!

In the summer, when it rains, my car gets washed.
In the winter, I actually take it to a car wash fairly frequently to wash off the rock salt, sand, etc.
