How often do you visit family?

This question is really only for people who live in the same city as their relatives but obviously not in the same household. I'm curious because my sister got all bent out of shape yesterday and my mom will occasionally throw out that I don't visit enough. I live about 2 miles away in my own house and I'm single and 35 if that makes any difference.

I visit my inlaws once a week. We alternate sunday dinners between our house, their house, and my sister in laws, every sunday. They only live about 4 miles away.

I dont see my family very much because they are 600 miles away.

I see my parents (and my wife's parents since they also live in the same city) maybe once a week on an average week - sometimes several times a week just depending upon what's going on. They live about 10 miles from us. But since they live closer in to town than we do so they don't really head our direction much unless it's to visit us - so in this case 10 miles is enough to provide a decent privacy buffer and prevent too many pop-ins.

They're good about respecting our privacy - more than we are about respecting theirs actually. They'll usually call before popping in. I'm bad about about not calling and just stopping by to pick up something/visit when I'm in the area as if I still lived there. We're both close to our families and my wife is very close to her mother seeing as how she's the only child - they talk on the phone almost every day. Being a guy I just don't talk on the phone all that much and maybe talk to them a couple times a week at most.

Well, I live about three hours away from my mom, brother, and sister (14 and 12 yrs old).
We drive up and spend the weekend with them about once every month or two.

EDIT: when we lived in the same town, we saw them about twice a week.

We have dinner at my gf's mom's house every Sunday and visit her dad about once a week too (her mom and dad only live about 300 yds apart). We visit my family about once every two months, as they live 200 miles away.

Maybe once a month. I live maybe 2 miles from my parents and maybe 10 miles from my in-laws.

I go visit home once a week for awhile then stay at the apartment fro 3 weeks in a row and then go bac kt othe once a week thing.

On Wednesdays I pick up my 10 year old son from my parents since they pick him up from school. Usually I'll get a snack, do a little reading up on current events, and then go throw the football or shoot baskets, etc. with him. Lately my mom has been going over to my sister's house which is just down the street and taking my son with her. I wasn't in the mood to spend an hour or two with her spoiled daughter at her house since I had had enough of her kids on Friday when they came over for my sis's birthday. I went to my sisters, said hello, and proceeded to get my son to take him home and spend some time with him. The next day, today, my mom said that my sister was very upset that I didn't spend any time with her and that I didn't inquire as to how the kitchen remodeling was going. I was just not in the mood really to be sociable that day and I do see my sis and her kids at least twice a week. Was I wrong here?

The last time I saw them was like 2 years ago. But then of course, they live in HK while I'm here in US.

Sounds like it make sense to drop by every other week though, if you can make the trip. Twice a month sounds like respectable frequency

for your situation, 2-10 times a month should be plenty

if they keep giving you crap, move 500+ miles away from them
