I had an ibm 300pl or gl I can't remember p3 600mhz up until 2001. before that it was something I can't remember it exactly but it had those 5.25 floppies. there was also the commodore but I don't really count that.

then upgrade to an amd athlon 1600.

athlon was destroyed by fedex, upgraded to a p4 2.8 in 2003. had minor things since. add another gig of ram and burners but those are little things.

my next upgrade will probably be next summer. assuming vista has been released for atleast 3 months. I'll get a core 2 duo. Unless intel releases newer and lower the price some more. I'll probably get an e6400 and x1900.

that will probably last me for a very very long time. don't play that many new games. I'm still playing civ3 conquests. Only future stuff I want is C&C 3 and diablo 3 if it ever gets made.

so I figure average of 3 to 4 years. the core 2 upgrade might last me a while I'm hoping 7 to 8 years maybe. anyone think that's possible. core 2 duo lasting till 2014.

I built my desktop in '03, and updated the video card earlier this year. Bought the laptop last summer.
