how often do you oil your paper shredder, and with what?

I heard you are supposed to oil them every month with "paper shredder oil." Anyone actually do this, and do you actually use "paper shredder oil?"

I usually feed it with a nice pig skin, and you should do it weekly in order to keep it at max condition...

Actually, I never oil the thing. it just keep working.

I oil mine with lubricant, whenever it needs lubrication.

Come to think of it, it's never used for paper shredding duties anyway.

Uh, my paper shredder was $12. I think that the first thing I shredded might have been the instructions. Then I promptly proceeded to shred a neck-tie, in deference to the warning printed on the unit. I might never have thought of that, were it not for that little warning graphic.

While the maximum stated shredding capacity of my unit is 5 sheets, I found it to be capable of over 10.

I've never thought about oiling it though. I might never think of it again either, until it stops shredding.

Actually, I think given my propensity to over load the thing by shredding neckties and stuff, I think extra oil might become a fire hazard.

Huh? I didn't know that I had to oil my paper shredder. I just keep using it. It's been running for almost two years now. If I knew the thing needed oiling, maybe I would have oiled it. 😛
