How often do you 'give in' and install an update or add-on just to stop it bugging you?

A lot of applications nowadays will install small tsrs or processes to periodically check for updates and or add-ons then remind you to install them when they appear. Quicktime/iTunes, flash player, adobe acrobat reader and real player are just a few popular examples. You can easily remove these processes from running at boot up and so keep them from checking for updates but often I forget to do so. Usually you can click "remind me latter" or "not now" or something and dismiss the reminder. How often do you install these updates even if you don't really want to just to keep them from bugging you again and again?

Firefox has bugged me to upgrade about 60 times now, I keep clicking "later".

The first time I get prompted for an update other than a Windows update, I kill the updater!

Firefox only gets the chance to update when I have to kill it for RAM hogging.
iTunes can screw itself, I don't understand why an iTunes update should be like 50 MB.
Acrobat can also screw itself.
AVG does its stuff silently; I have Kaspersky on my laptop and it drives me insane.

I've been holding out on Adobe updates for about six months now. Usually because it always pops up when I have a PDF open. Windows Update usually waits a few days before I decide it's pertinent to restart.

Adobe's "updates" are usually just an excuse to add more icons to the desktop and system tray, and take over .PDF file permissions back from FoxIt :(

At least they're not as bad as Yahoo Messenger's updates, which try to add an IE toolbar and change your default start page and search engine :|

I had a problem with Adobe and removed the update file from my system. Problem solved. I allow Firefox to update, but otherwise only AVG gets updated.

What really bugged me was when I ran zonealarm a while back. Its updates are annoying as hell, forcing a restart and basically reconfiguring all of the firewall exceptions.

I always told it to remind me in two weeks or something.

Depends what is trying to update. If it's actually important I'll let it update. If not, I don't.
