How often do you eat seafood?

Salmon, tilapia, sardines, tuna, shrimp, mackerel and catfish on a weekly basis. Crab, lobster and oysters/mussels occasionally when family eats out. Tried seaweed once. :awe:
 
At least once or twice a week. Diver scallops, cod, snapper, salmon, lightly seared tuna, and a lot of shrimp. I cook shrimp and creamy cheese grits a couple of times a month. Another favorite is a spicy tuna sushi bowl. It's all the same components in a spicy tuna sushi roll but it's kind of deconstructed and loaded over a bowl of sushi rice.

My favorite seafood is king crab but it has really gotten expensive in the last few years. I don't know if it's demand from other countries or because Deadliest Catch has popularized it, but it way too damn expensive now.

How much is King crab per pound where you live? Just curious. Here is Seattle at Costco I think it was $12.99 a pound during their "Seafood Roadshows" they have at each location usually a couple times a month.

Most of the Alaska seafood (that does not end up in Japan) goes through Seattle so I imagine that helps the prices quite a bit.

One of my dreams before I die is to go to Alaska and enjoy an entire King crab, fresh and not frozen, all to myself. :awe:

Costco used to sell it around here a few years ago for $11.99 a pound. Now it's $18.99 or more per pound.

I have the same dream as you too. I would love to taste King Crab straight off the boat. There has to be some tasty stuff in that big body as well.

It's $25 a pound here in Atlanta. I stopped buying it when it hit $20. It was regularly ~$12 a pound for years til couple years ago when it shot up to $20. 20lb box was only about $220 or so but now the same box is close to $500. It wouldn't be so bad if the quality was the same or better. But the quality has gone down at the same time with the price increase so I can't justify it anymore. Costco no longer carry the super jumbo size anymore. It's all crap dried up small legs that look more like snow crab legs now.

Once or twice a month. My wife isn't a great cook so I do most of the cooking, but in hate cooking fish. It never turns out how I want it.
 
Most frequent are cod, haddock, halibut, scallops, shrimp, lobster. The Gulf of Maine is one of the few fisheries where cod isn't dangerously depleted, so I'll enjoy it until it's time to cut back. I like mackerel a lot too, but I'm told it's getting used as bait since people aren't buying it.

Occasionally, I'll get something shipped from out west, you guys have better (wild) salmon. But the piers and fish markets are right here, it'd be a shame to not eat it all fresh.
 
Try more time at lower heat . when it starts to flake stop its ready

I didn't mean under or over cooked, just the flavor. I'm eating it and thinking "Damn a steak or chicken would taste good right now." Maybe I just don't like fish that much. I do like shellfish though, crab especially, but it's so damn expensive.

Absolutely never in my life. I was allergic as a kid, and so never developed a taste for it. My allergy has subsided and is now mild, but I hate all forms of seafood.
 
On average, at least once a week. Sometimes I get it very fresh. Fresh = I come back to the dock with the fish in my livewell. I turn on the deep fryer to warm up, and head down to the fish cleaning house with my catch, a pan, and a razor sharp filet knife. A little beer batter later & minute or two in the fryer & it's an awesome meal. This year, I froze enough fish for weekly fish fries at home for at least 4 months, with a few more days of dedicated fishing to go.
 
What the heck happened? Its kinda scary. We depleted so many of the fish stocks. It seems its all farm raised salmon and catfish and shrimp now. Plus some weird species I never heard of that are advertised as "mild white fish"

I probably cook fish about 3-4 times/month (plus cooking seafood gumbo every couple months that lasts me for a week)... usually I just stick with salmon, trout, shrimp, and scallops.

once in awhile, I've gotten the odd craving for swordfish or shark, but there's very few white fishes that I care for (unless they're deep-fried, which defeats the purpose of eating healthy)
 
White fish is all I can stomach, unless we're talking about bacon-wrapped shrimp, which is my #1 favorite food wrapped around my #3 favorite food 😀
 
I just had a tin of kippered herring. I forgot how delicious they were. They were Brunswick brand. One thing that always struck me as funny, is they call them fish snacks on the label...

Me: Hey kids want some snacks?
Kids: (thinking Doritos, Oreos, or ice cream) YES!
Me: Opens a couple tins of fish snacks, and places in front of kids.
Kids: WTF?! Gross!

My daughter has always liked them though. I used to send her to school with various fish all the time. It's one of her favorite foods.
 
Never, but I am trying to start. I am trying to cut beef down/out of my diet and chicken gets old after 3-4 days straight.
 
If you count fish as seafood, then a few times a month. I'm kinda "off" canned tuna atm, just doesn't appeal to me. I used to eat it regularly though. When we go out I normally order fish. We keep some frozen shrimp on hand, too, to make an easy stirfry.
