I'm up to about every other day. I've gotten addicted to watching it scrolled through the clusters.

i try to do it once a week.

it's a balance between maintenance and wear and tear on you HDD.

if you're the type to delete files often and having to recover them, then defrag is not for you ;-)

yeah, and it is addicting having it sort through everything ;-)

Mday: is it bad to do it too often? That would suck after having to give up deguassing, i won't have anything left.

I haven't done it in a while and did it yesterday. It took so long. Maybe I will be on the once a week plan now...

Man, I defrag my hard drive like once every 3 months! It just takes too damn long. I guess I should do it more often, and leave my computer on overnight.

I do it 2-3 times a week with diskeeper. It takes less than 5 minutes on a 12GB hd with 3GB free. It is the best defrag program I have ever used

Windoctor or Regclean, then Speed Disk or Power Defrag every day or two. Makes quite a difference on my old slow 'puters.

I defrag the 5GB C partition 3-4 times a week. I defrag the other 3 partitions (another 40GB) once a week.

pretty much never. I don't juggle my files around a lot, and it takes too long for me to wait really......it gets defragged once every couple of months when I have to format and reinstall every anyway :p

UrbanTechie........Everynight??

I've read somewhere that defragging too often can cause problems to your drive?

Once every 20 days here.

I defrag my 1.2 gig C: partition daily. Do a lot of install/uninstall. If the drive wears out, so be it. I got a three year warranty.

Depends ... if I do lots of disk intensive stuff installing/uninstalling and whatnot then i'll do it frequently. If not then once a week or so.

Defragging won't do any more damage to your hard drive than loading Quake repeatedly. It, in the long run, can lower wear on the drive by preventing seeks during normal use. It's either you seek a lot all at once to defrag, or you seek a lot whenever you load a program throughout the day, your choice.
