I follow the severe schedule's 5,000 mile recommendation even though I clearly fit the normal schedule (10,000 mile recommendation).Originally posted by: welst10
Is there a "severe condition" schedule on your manual? My 2003 Acura CL has two schedules, normal and severe. I just follow the severe one to be conservative.

Every 4 to 7,000, really depends on when I feel motivated enough to do it.

6000~7000 miles. The owner's manual says to do it every 7,500 miles. 2000 Honda Prelude.

that's normal condition schedule. If you use conventional oil, that's a little too long. Few ppl recommend >5000 on conventional oil.

Especially on an engine like his. 7800 rpm and dirty oil don't mix
Yes, there are many debates and arguments about this. Following the manufacturers specs are best.Originally posted by: boomdart
Roughly every 7,000-9,000 miles.
A good running engine does *not* need to be changed every 3,000 miles. And I use good oil. (Royal Purple)
Even on normal oil, an engine generally doesn't need it every 3,000 miles. Look up the details on google.

I haven't changed the oil in my girlfriend's car since I bought it over a year ago... I should probably do that.

i have a 4mm diameter hole in the oil cap plug and so my oil gets topped up every trip. so i effectively change my oil every 4 days. i can barely stand in my garage its so slick in there![]()
