how often do they clean out the fridge in your office?

inspired by this story about the EPA finding a 16 year-old can of soup while cleaning out the office fridge during the shutdown...

I work out of 2 offices (I'm in our corporate office 4 days/week, and out at a satellite office once a week)... in the corporate office, they're pretty good about it -- the fridge gets emptied out completely every other Friday. it works out pretty well (not withstanding the occasional drama when the office staff says they're going to clean out the fridge at 2 pm but don't actually get around to it until 4 pm -- in the process, throwing out the lunch/dinner that one of the night shift guys put into the fridge at 3). by and large, the fridge stays pretty spotless.

the satellite office is a mess, though D: I don't think anyone's cleaned out the fridge in years. when I work there, I don't even bother bringing me own food because there's hardly any room to squeeze it in the fridge.

Every 2 weeks its cleaned out. Any food not labeled gets thrown out. No exceptions.

Every Friday. And they are strict about it. Giant red placards with a warning about it. They throw everything out, and I mean everything. No exceptions as well.

office managers?

I'm not sure of their official title, but there's a department in my company in charge of buying office supplies, keeping the kitchen stocked up, and manning the reception desks. they're the ones who clean out the fridge in the corporate office.

(the department also has a presence in the satellite office, though idk why they don't clean out the fridge down there too)

Every Friday evening. There are labels available. Things can be held over once. Otherwise, all of the heirloom tupperware and sumptious HotPockets are trashed.

Cleaning staff do it about once a month. They're supposed to throw everything out except milk/cream (which is owned by the company), though non-perishables tend to stay. They keep the fridges here pretty clean.

We normally don't have issues with people leaving things in our fridge. Most guys eat out for lunch, but if they do bring something from home they take it out daily and reuse the container for next time and so on. If there is food left it's usually cleaned out by the end of the week.

2 refrigerators used by about 170 employees early Monday morning which will be full of opened cans of pop, unlabeled Tupperwares, etc. Labeled food if nicely packed/unopened/not messy is untouched.

last friday of each month. everything gets tossed. we have 5 fridges in the break room and each one has a sign on it with the schedule and a warning in big red letters, that everything will be tossed.

we have two upright freezers that get emptied and defrosted in Jan and July. again everything gets tossed

Whenever I or a couple of other coworkers decide to. The company only provides refrigerators in the newest building. Pretty much every other fridge is bought with private funds.

Usually when it gets really bad or someone just has enough. I wish it were more often. Every Friday would be great.

I don't think anybody cleans our fridges, but somehow stuff doesn't get left there very often. But I'va had some kiwis in a bag in my office for the past 2-3 weeks, don't know who they belong to. One day I'll get irritated and toss em

Depends for us. Some work areas its every friday (really every other friday). Others, like where i am now dont have things left really so there is no set cleaning. The every friday ones are usually when its in a busy work area with lots of people. Its also just a given thing that if it starts to smell it just gets tossed.

We close for a week at Christmas time so everything in the fridges are tossed then with no exceptions (either people take stuff home or it just gets tossed) so nothing ever lasts more than a year.
