How often do people in your family end up in the emergency room?

It seems like someone in my family is always getting stitches or something. My mom jsut told me my dad was splitting wood yesterday and hit himself in the foot with the axe. He'll be okay, but he needed stitches in his foot. A couple months back, my brother fell through a plate glass window and had to have surgery on his arm. About a year and half ago I had to have stitches on my lip after I got punched in the face by some jackass. Seems like every 3 to 6 months someone ends up in the hospital with some sort of injury.

Are we just accident prone or does this happen to everyone?

Its been 8 years since I've been to the emergency room, and nobody from my family has been since then.

Let us know when you end up at the ER after your SO takes a baseball bat upside your head 😀

not very often... unfortunitely my great grandmother has been off and on with pneumonia... so shes been in and out of the emergency room

I've had to take my husband to the ER two or three times over the years. First time was when he had chicken pox and was having trouble breathing (complications from chicken pox in adults can be life-threatening.) Last time, he tried to break a board in half by stepping on the middle of it, and one side came up and hit him in the nose really really hard. Ended up bleeding profusely and breaking the bone that bridges between his nose and eye socket.

Never had to take my kids to the ER, and I only had to go once that I'm aware of, when I was ten.

Have you had to go other times you're not aware of?

Overall not very often.

I was in once when a piece of cartilage slipped out of place in my knee and I couldn't bend it... the swelling went down as I was sitting there and I was able to snap it back into place... The guys in the ER were a little concerned but eventually let me walk out..

That's the only time I can remember, but I was sick a lot as a baby/toddler, so I might've been taken to the ER more than that one time but have no memory of it.

Last time for me was ~6 years ago, cycle accident, collapsed lung, 7 broken ribs, broken left humerus...

Rule of thumb for me is that if I can walk into an ER under my own power, I'm not going.

I used to go constantly as a kid; my mother is an idiot. I'd do something like sneeze, or maybe stub a toe, and there we were  Haven't been since I was 16 and fell off my mtb when my chain snapped, had a bit of road-rash on one elbow.

Last time I went was senior year in high school, bout 4 years ago. Had a bad fall on the track, and they couldn't get some of the bigger rocks lodged into my knee out (or a liability issue with non-sanitary conditions, whatever) and sent me to the ER to get that sh1t out, along with x-rays on my ankle.
