How often did you go to the dentist for a tooth cleaning?

Two years ago, i had a tooth cleaning at a dentist. Last week , i went to clean my teeth again. But this time the dentist told me that i have 5 decayed teeth. I cannot believe it at the beginning. Of course i had my 5 decayed teeth filled. I was also told that there are 4 wisdom teeth need to be pulled out since my teeth hurt because of that. I blame myself for not taking good protection of my teeth. If i had tooth cleaning more frequently, maybe i will not suffering so much more nowadays. So i want to know how often did you go to the dentist for a tooth cleaning?

I usually go once every 6 months (which is typically what insurance covers, along with x-rays once per year), but haven't connected with a new dentist since moving last September. I've lucked out and typically have minimal problems, though, and I also try to brush 2x a day and floss once per day, so the pressure isn't quite as intense. If I knew I was prone to cavities, I'd probably make a more concerted effort to go see someone.

Every 6month tooth cleaning and checkup.

I'd switch to an electric toothbrush and floss your teeth if you don't so already. The replacement toothbrush heads you can get cheaper online. I'd get some non alcoholic mouth wash as well.

Once you get your teeth sorted out it's much easier to keep them in good health. About 4yrs ago I had to have 3 root canals!

did once a year until i was in my teens (i think) then nothing until about 5 years ago. i go every 6 months now. most of my lower molars are in bad shape.. already have 2 crowns.

also some (a lot?) dentists tend "play up" on work you need done so they can make more $$$. use common sense with their recommendations.

I go twice a year. I haven't had x-rays in a while since I don't have dental.

I'm lucky and barely have anything wrong with my teeth, but I do tend to take good care of them.

Also, along with the brushing and flossing tips mentioned. Always use baking soda to brush with, too. That's been my combo for the past.... 24 years of my life. I've never had a single cavity. Also, baking soda helps whiten your teeth almost just as good as regular toothpaste if not better!

I had a five year gap between 23 and 28, but now I go every 6 months.

Luckily, there was nothing wrong with my teeth...just some extra tartar to scrape off.

OP, did your general dentist offer to extract your wisdom teeth or did he direct you to a specialist for that procedure? I recommend going with a specialist for it.

Insurance covers twice a year. Before I had insurance, I went about every two years. Haven't noticed any difference in cavities etc. I do have some crowns, but that was many years ago.

My wife goes about once every two years, she used to go even less. She's 47, and has never had a single cavity, or any other dental issue, in her life. Go figure.

I do 3x a year. I pay for one, the rest are covered. I didn't start going to a dentist until I was mid 30's. In my adult teeth, I only have one semi-filling which was just a soft spot that the dentist covered up.

I went to a specialist to get the two of my right side wisdom teeth extracted. And i will never forget this miserable experience. Though i feel no hurt during the extraction process because of the anaesthetic the dentist had give me, one hour after that the whole right side of my face and lip were totally numb and my mouth bled continuously. I hate this feeling and feel so weak at that time. In the following three days, i could only ate porridge. But i feel much better now.

My mother has a poor dental health, maybe i inherit it from her so my teeth can decay very easily. It is true that some people's teeth are born to be stronger than others. your wife is so lucky.
