How often and how much do you drink per week?

I know for a fact that we have many who like their drink here. But there are a few self professed teetotallers among you too. If you had to average out how much you drink per week what would it come to. And how often is said amount drunk over. For example a bottle a week a small glass at a time over the whole week, or the same bottle over a shorter period. I'm of the later type. I keep to 1 bottle (of wine) a week or so but I binge drink it I don't drink any more than this now though. I know many drink much more than this, but usually spread out over longer periods.

To give you an idea how much we drink, we bought three six packs and a growler of beer for a get together on Mother's Day this year.

We still have 12 beers and the growler in the fridge...

Zero times per week for awhile now. I just haven't felt much like alcohol. I've never really liked getting drunk, but back when I was drinking "a lot", it might have been the equivalent of 2 6 packs per week, but I've always favored whisky. One of those sixes was on dart night, on Wednesday. The rest was spread out over the week.

My brother informs me that this isn't true. I have actually had about four glasses of wine in the past x months; I thought it was more, as I've been making a concerted effort to drink more... but apparently I just don't make the time for it.

Yeah I remember you saying you preferred whisky. I've come to like Gin, especially G&Ts but I stick to wine if I can. I find beer to taste the best of all but it's to expensive to get a buzz off of. Wine is the happy medium I find.

I have not gone to a doctor about it, if that is what you mean.

When I drink, I get all red and blotchy all over my body, I feel very hot inside and quite nauseous. The duration is directly related to how much I drank.

About once a year or so, I will drink something with my brother-in-law present (a kind of odd tradition of ours), just to see if it disappears as suddenly as it appeared. It has been almost 20 years.

Hmm well a quick Google shows that alcohol allergies do exist among white people but it's quite rare. Symptoms are as you describe. It's quite common for Asians to suffer from alcohol intolerance. I believe because many Asians lack certain proteins necessary for metabolizing alcohol.

I'd still go to a doctor and get it checked just in case if I were you. But after 20 years it's probably nothing.

Why would sake be any different, it's the alcohol that's the problem. Japan and Korea may have more people who are tolerant to alcohol I don't know. They DO have a prominent drinking culture after all.

12 to 18 drinks is quite a lot over 1-2 days every week I was able to down a 750ml of vodka per week or more at my worst (about 20+ shots) but I was in a BAD BAD place at that point.
