WATAUGA, Texas A 9-1-1 dispatcher in Watauga has apologized after responding to a mother's plea for help with an unruly child by saying: "O-K. Do you want us to come over to shoot her?"

The woman, identified only as Lori in today's Fort Worth Star-Telegram, said she recently phoned authorities after coming home to find her daughters fighting.

After dispatcher Mike Forbess' comment, the line went dead for 5 seconds.

"Are you there?" Forbess asked.

"Excuse me?" Lori said.

The dispatcher told her he was joking and apologized.

The woman was not amused.

Forbess has received two written reprimands for his behavior.

The woman said she wants more done than what she termed just an "interoffice disciplinary action."

I don't know what that dude was thinking, but I got a chuckle out of it. I actually heard the dispach call on the local radio this morning - it sounded like he was deadly serious!

911 operators don't have to be very smart.
I knew a dud that failed out of the police academy, but was given a job as a 911 dispatcher. He took a call, then went to the bathroom and forgot to dispatch it to EMS.

You think that's bad?

"State police 911.
Yeah I want to report a street bike accident on Incinerator Road in Taftville. Someone crashed on their street bike.
"Yeah... too bad."

Too bad says the state police dispatcher who then hangs up.

"State police 911.
"Hi, I need to report a street bike accident what?"
"Hello?"
"I need to report a street bike accident.
"Was that the one on Incinerator Road?
"Yeah. Help will get there. Shouldn't be playing games."

State Trooper, huh?

If her child was fighting, they should have take her away for a night in the police station, to cool down. Suggesting to shoot her was a bad idea, no matter how you put it

Dumb b1tch deserved it calling 911 for a non-emergency.
Raise children with discipline, and we all win.

yes sir

Regardless of how f'n stupid that mother was - you just can't say that kind of sh!t and get away with it. If she's dumb enough to call dispach becuase she can't control her own child - she's obviously gonna raise a huge fit or probably sue now because she's just that pathetic. She should have dialed 1-800-SMACK-EM.

EDIT: The kid that is..

Somehwere those thoughts or similar must have been what precipitated the 911 operators retort, but his response probably didn't come out the way he wanted it to. 😀

if you call 911 to take care of your kids or get somebody to make you a western cheeseburger, then you are just an idiot

I heard on the radio this morning that if he got a warning, and if he screws up again he's fired. At least he wasn't fired outright.

if he said something like

"what do you want us to do arrest her?"

it might have been understandable.

the dude apologized on the spot soon after he said it... I think he was trying to have some fun with his job, in non-emergency situations. The mom needs to stop putting her troubles on everyone else.
