I can't believe he didn't make that turn. What a crappy driver. I've done turns like that in my freaking Mazda at that speed. it's called an E-brake, and knowing how much to use.

Ebrake? Wtf is this, Bad Boys II? I can make a turn like that at twice that speed, with the real brake.

Does he just suck that badly at driving?

Front wheel drive, they steer from the front and when in low traction situations during hard turns, they tend to understeer. Meaning, when you try to make a sharp turn at 40+ MPH in a car like that, it's probably not going to turn as much as you want it to.

Looks like he was braking throughout the turn too. Probably locked his front wheels = no turnage = pwnage.

What a dumbass.

I wonder how much damage he did, probably a few K... damn airbag..

So how the F do you not turn ?

Understeer

- M4H

I understand the concept of understeer, but anytime Ive experienced what I would call understeer, I just adjusted.... its not like the two front tires are completely off the ground, and if you are spinning you keep the wheels going but you let off the gas some.

Ive driven front wheel drive cars my entire life, and taken turns at MUCH MUCH faster speeds than that guy and never had the same problem.

Anyway...

Wow what a moron, if he had the steering wheel locked to the right and then pulled the ebrake he would have been ok most likely but im sure he is to dumb to know to pull the ebrake if you get stuck in understeer like that. FWD FTL.

Meh, what fun is a car if you never get the tires squeeling;)

That's just classic. This just proves oversteer >> understeer;)

I absolutely agree with you. And I do get my tires squealing every once in a while at stop lights. I also take the windy way home every chance I get and time myself. But I generally keep my driving WELL within safety limits and I don't try to Fast and Furious my way into a turn for absolutely no reason. There's fun... and then there's that shmuck.

Ricer refers to external mods on the car, but nothing to the engine.

If you're going to stereotype and generalize atleast get it right.

I almost crashed my stupid Pontiac Grand Am 02 into a curb, but managed to hit the curb with both wheels at the same time thus reducing the damage by far. I wasn't going insanely fast, but fast enough for it to understeer fairly badly. The shocks on the car also need to be replaced as the car loves to bounce around.
Had to get it re-aligned. Changed the rims so my parents wouldn't know what I did to the car ($90 or $80 per wheel so I lost like $160-$180 ARGGG).
My next car will be an AWD, that way more control.

Actually, AWD behaves much less predictably than FWD or RWD.

WTF. The airbag popped out for that? LOL
If he was going fast enough, the airbag should've popped. The problem is, HIS didn't pop, only the passenger side blew. That's why they were telling him to smack himself in the head and sue Hyundai :p

I, too, think he should smack himself in the head.

You don't brake AND steer hard! Do one, then the other for maximum effect.

Exactly. Hit the brakes, yank the wheel over hard and let go of the brakes. The car will jump in the direction you turned the wheel.

kid doesnt know how the car handles or how to drive. its called UNDERSTEER on an FWD car.. you can minimize it if you knwo you are going to make that right turn by doing a left before the right, if not you take off the throttle and go for it without the throttle.. he took the turn with teh gas being pressed then he paniced and hit the brakes and didnt steer..

inexperinced driver.. thats all.

Simply not true. The entire situation is governed by many factors, not least of which is that most cars for public sale are setup to understeer on purpose at the limit as it is seen to be safer.

Whether you agree with it or not is a moot point.

I had the factory setup on my Subaru suspension changed to eliminate the tuned in understeer and now it pivots on it's central axis perfectly and is very predictable.
