I'll gladly take that off his hands if he can't handle it properly. (P226 9mm I'd guess)

Looks like he decocked it perfectly; someone however needs to explain the difference between a decocker (such as found on a Sig Sauer) and a safety. Similar appearance, vastly different functions.

If he de-cocked it perfectly, it wouldn't have gone off. He tried to de-cock it 1911/revolver style, which is fine, but there's a reason you point it in a safe direction when you do that. Release the hammer too soon and you get a discharge. Hell strictly speaking it's supposed to be pointed in a safe direction at all times. Guy is an idiot.

Nope, when you decock a gun it isn't supposed to go off. Therefore it was a failure.

I guess we can add you to the list of people who need an explanation of what a decocker is and how it differs from a safety. Trust me, if you actuate the decocker on a Sig Sauer P22x series pistol then squeeze the trigger, the weapon will fire.

And I guess we can add you to the list of people who don't know where the decocker is on a Sig, because if you watch the video he didn't use it.

You must have better eyes than me then, because at the 0:11 mark or so he dropped the magazine, the release for which is immediately above the decocking lever; if it was in fact a Sig P22x pistol. The resolution isn't high enough to see definitively whether he depressed the decocker, and I can't see if the hammer is in the single-action or double-action position. Either way, you could at least be self-aware enough to correct your earlier statement that the weapon would not have gone off had he decocked it. If he pulled the trigger, it would have fired regardless if were a Sig.

I never said it wouldn't if he'd pulled the trigger afterwards, no correction required; and actually the mag release is significantly below the decocker and is a button as opposed to a lever. Given the nature of the decocker and the range/manner of motion required it's nearly impossible to accidentally actuate or mistake for a mag release.

What I'm seeing at 0:15 is his thumb on the cocked hammer and his finger in the trigger guard, the instant before the discharge. Indicates he was trying to do a traditional decock when it was in single action mode, didn't have enough of a hold on the hammer and released it too soon/too fast; while the gun was pointed in the most idiotic direction possible.

Thats how I see it, he tried to decock it 1911 style but didn't have a good thumbgrip on the hammer and couldn't catch it before it hit the firing pin.

SIG manual says specifically NOT to thumb down the hammer. Maybe if he wasn't a leftie he would've seen the decocking lever and done it properly.
