There was a kid on a turbo forum that put his hand over the induction pipe.

Hamburger paw in 0-1 sec flat.

People make dumb mistakes, you hope they are not so life changing. People that don't probably live boring and sheltered lives.

I've heard of this happening a number of times. People revving up the engine via the throttle body, have their hand too close to an open turbo inlet and end up in the ER. Not likely they're gonig to reattach some frappe'd fingers though.

jesus, why did he think having the bike running was a good idea?

So that the tire/chain would turn itself for cleaning and lubrication. When I figured it out my first thought was "oh, what a good idea for anyone with a rear-stand" and then I remembered "oh, wait."

Basically, when you lube a chain with the bike up on a rear stand, you remove the chain guard, hold a rag around the chain, spin the tire, and spray lube on the clean chain as it leaves the rag.

He let the idling engine spin his tire rather than throwing it in neutral and spinning it manually.

Can the OP edit the thread title to say "motorcycle CHAIN?" While you're at it, "clean/lube" would be more descriptive too.

I hope he's left-handed, or he's not going to be jerking for a while.

He is.

Maybe he started as a bicycle mechanic. When I worked at a bicycle shop we used to do exactly what he did, by spraying the chain with WD40 and then running it through a rag held around the chain.

The only difference is that there is a hell of a lot more HP turning the chain on a motorcycle than there is hand peddling a bicycle.

All in all he is one dumb stump handed idiot.

No, he should have done it in neutral and turned the tire by hand. Instead, he dropped it into gear and let it idle.

Dumb mistake, sure, but people are being too hard on him. Everyone has done something as or more stupid but was lucky enough to skip any injuries. I give him mad props for getting pics and for this comment, which made me lol:

lol yea, I was walking around my driveway waiting for the ambulance and I was like..FUCK I need pics lol so I pulled out my phone and snapped the pics. I have a Palm Pre and I am pretty impressed with the photo quality on the comp.

Awesome comment.

His hand was like 4 inches away from the turbo. It spooled up and sucked his hand in.
