How necessary is the front filter?

I want to mod out a case. Im going to cut a blowhole on top and window on side, but i am wondering about the intake(front). Should i keep the filter setup; is it really necessary? Or should i put my own fan(with sweeeet grill 😉 ) in the front without a filter? Would that be noisier than the filter setup? Thanks

I would think it depends on where you plan to place your box. If your room is dusty most often or you have pets, then yes. You don't want dust or pet hair accumulating on your expensive equipment and reduce its lifespan. And besides, you said you want to put a window on the side....do you want to see dust through that window? Just a thought.

how much do they lower cfm? i have 2 cats and 2 dogs that do produce hair... and i dont know if i want filters or not

also, no filters on output fans right?

Don't know the exact amount in CFM reduction, but there will be some. Filter on exhaust fan??? Why would you want to trap dust inside of your case?
