How my g/f broke the laws of thermodynamics

So my girl was cooking fish in a glass 13x9 baking pan the other day, she takes it out and puts it on top of the stove it literally exploded with the sound of a gunshot. There was glass all over her and about 10 feet away all over the kitchen. How her face didn't get cut I don't know but she had hot glass all in her hair.

WTF is that? The stove wasn't wet or anything, she had the old school electric coils on her stove and they were definitely off. I can see if she put it in a puddle of cold water or something but I have no friggin clue what could have caused it to explode like that.

Anyone?

I have a theory but will have to see pics of your g/f before I can be sure.

Metal transfer heat quickly. It must have been enough to make the glass crack.

If the GF is hot enough, she will crach the pan.

We may be sharing the same theory, but pics are required to prove it with the laws of science

The glass was very very hot. The stove range was room temp but has metal which transfers heat very quickly. The glass could not withstand such a drastic temp. drop. In addition, the glass might of had microfractures existing within it from random day to day bumping, washing, etc.

I say the glass had a flaw in it and circumstances conspired to the inevitable.

I was in the kitchen barefoot getting something out of the microwave, when I opened the door the outer tempered glass panel shattered in a million pieces, leaving me standing in the center of a four foot circle of broken glass, barefoot 🙁

you know those display cases at the deli? like in the supermarket? with the big curved glass fronts? did you know that the glass is actually a big SPRING LOADED "door" that can be opened upward for cleaning? did you know that if the edge of a stainless steel walk-in freezer door just touches the edge of one of those panels that shards of tempered glass will be flung twenty feet in the air, around fifty pounds of glass shards flung into the air and blanketing a hotel kitchen the day before its grand opening is not a good thing.......

I think the main question to be asked is: Were your nipples erect when you opened the microwave?
