How much would you tip for this meal?

My wife and I are going to a nice restaurant for our 10 year anniversary. The restaurant charges a flat rate for 10 courses + wine pairings @ $350 each....so the tab will be $700+ tax + tip. I usually tip 20%+, but wonder if that's overkill in this situation.

That sounds ridiculous in general. I probably would tip 7% max for an even $50. I normally do 10%.

I wouldn't do 20%, and that's what I usually tip. Depends on how good the service is, but a $50 bill seems about right. I like symmetrical/even numbers.

$100 seems fair maybe throw in an extra 20 if the service is just over the top good.

It depends on a few factors. Places like that generally do a low number of covers so servers don't make a killing in tips. Plus the servers are often splitting the tips with runners and some of the back of the house people. If service is impeccable, as it should be at such a place, don't short them. Go with 18 to 20%.

I tip strictly for service...the meals quality has no bearing on the tip!

I have no idea what kind of food you are getting for that price. I just couldn't bring myself to pay that for a dinner. Ever and I don't consider myself a cheap@ss either. But that is crazy IMO.
