My tree got hit by lightning. See tree-1.jpg.

How much do you think this is going to cost for removal and hauling?

I already paid for the service, but I wanted to get your opinion.

Also, if you had to get 10 trees (over 30 feet tall) trimmed, how much do you think it'll cost?

Give me some numbers from your experience. I've seen some people mention about $2000 and others lesser than that.

I would guess about $600 for removal including stump.

edit:

I need to have one or two trees taken down in my backyard that are quite a bit bigger than that.

I am just going to pay someone to bring it to the ground in chunks. I'll deal with the stump and cutting the rest of it apart with my chainsaw.

I don't want to cut it down myself though since it's right next to the house.

The tree looks pretty small. But it was quite heavy: tree-8.jpg.

The removal cost including hauling it away was about $250. For about 7 water oak trees that need to be trimmed it cost about $1000. The trees are about 30 ft tall. I suppose that's a decent price.

The small "broken tree?" That's DIY job IMO.

Looks to be less than 12"in diameter, can be done with a relatively small chainsaw.

Disposing of the wood afterwards however...I don't know what kind of tree it is, or how good of firewood it's be.

That tree was actually my excuse to buy a chainsaw. But when I called the tree guy to do the estimate he decided to take care of the fallen tree. He said the tree weight about 2000 lbs. That's a bit hard to believe, but then again that tree seemed pretty solid when I tried lifting part of it.

Buck saw + case of beer + backyard fire + buddies = an average weekend for many willing to crawl out form their computer cave and do a few hours of real man's work.

It's pretty weak to get someone else to take of a little tree like that. Now if it was a 30+ foot oak, I would understand.

If you actually hire someone, make sure they are insured.

free firewood+ free workout :p

though its very expensive if your chainsaw kicks back and you slice into your face.

My mom saved a few bucks when she cut down a MONSTER tree in her front yard. Her two neighbors across the street took the wood.
