I'm interning in Tempe, AZ, and I would like to take my mountain bike..if at all possible I would like to ship it the cheapest way (recommendations?), although if its too expensive I guess I could try to fit it in my car, although thats not gonna be easy to do with the rest of the stuff I'm taking..anybody have any experience? I got a box from a bike store already..oh yeah and I'm in College Station, TX now, if it makes any difference

About $40. Incidentally, you could buy a trunk mount bike rack for about $40-50.

I shipped my road bike from CA to CO for $70 (they charged extra to assemble it at the shop).

I shipped it to a bike shop.

FedEx Ground would probably be the cheapest. Figure out the weight and dimensions and you can look it up on fedex.com.

 buy a trunk mount rack since you're driving anyway. plus you can use it to drive your bike to Moab!

i paid 35 for my solaris bike rack, but i got a deal on it. you should be able to get a decent one for under $40.

if i get a trunk bike rack, is it easily removable (I don't plan on doing this often)..also I have new car with a spoiler (2005 Pontiac Grand Prix GT) and dont want to scratch the paint (sorry if that sounds bad, but hey gotta keep it nice while you can)..also it needs to be really secure as I'm gonna be going 80+ hehe..i didnt think of a rack because my friend paid $300 for his roof rack on his car, a Yamika...any recommendations?

Yeah, they strap on. It takes me about two minutes to set up my bike rack on my car, and about 2 minutes to take it off again and put it in the trunk. The racks have pads on them where they actually touch the trunk, but the spoiler may or may not be a problem. If you go down to a boike shop or sporting goods store, you should be able to tell them what you're looking for and what kind of car you have and they'll find a rack that fits it.

And they're perfectly secure at freeway speeds.
