A friend asked me for a favour and I was wondering how a job like this would cost in the IT Market.

100GB worth of training video footage need to be cut, edited, compiled and then placed into a library as bookmarks... kind of like a table of contents with links to each individual video. Then it needs to be pressed into a presentation on either DVD (if it fits) or USB stick.

How many hours do you think this will take and how much does the average IT company charge out there?

The film editing looks pretty simple, cutting video from the beginning or ends of each clip and sticking them together to make sure they make sense. No special fx required.

What do you guys think?

5 hours, $30/hour for $150?

Sorry you're right. How much would it cost?

Depends on skill level, and software at hand ................ too vague man.

is it 5 cuts? 25 cuts? 50 cuts??

I'd charge 30-50$ an hour, depending how well I knew them ... and i'd not limit myself to 5 hours if you have never done it. If you are prepared to eat the learning costs, just tell him $200 and you'll do it.

Seems like 30-35 cuts.......

Some videos got chopped off because of video size limitations so certain parts have to be stitched back on. That's the majority of work plus conversion time.

I was just going to use Windows Movie Maker (yes, lol) since he said no effects were required... just straight editing and then bookmarking.
