so I can enter in to this turbo poker program that I want a table of 2 loose aggressives, 4 tight aggressives, and 4 loose passives, and it'll simulate that for me?

if so thats pretty good.

But perhaps OP won't need something like this yet, especially before he knows the basics.

Yes.

Again probably correct. Especially at $90.

$90 is a crapload of money when you're playing $0.01/0.02 tables.

I'll probably get it soon though.

LOL...gonna have to step up from pennies to make any money.

And yes, you can set those scenarios and even more about how they play. You can also have the game analyze your own play.

Just do what I did:
1. Attend GA
2. Pay attention to the characteristics of a Compulsive Gambler (its all outlined in the GA meetings).
3. At the casinos, look for people at the tables that have those characteristics and take advantage of them.
4. Profit!!!!

viper, what limits and where do you play?

Currently waiting for cashout from Paradise so I can move up to $0.50/$1.00 at Party when the reload bonus comes. My learning stage was at $0.25/0.50 on Paradise.

I am but a newbie, less than 10K hands.

I have never played limits that low, my point was that for a beginner who is starting out on the nano side of things $90 for poker simulation software is a lot of money.

ah, I play the .50/1.00 NL games at party. maybe I'll run in to you there.

I heard paradise is fairly weak tight but I never tried there.

Ah, so online poker is helpful for learning to play with actual live people? At least to get into the play? Fun. Here I go . . .

Do they serve free refreshments at GA meetings? I used to go to AA meetings back in college to save on food money. Might be interesting.

Okay, start with the recommended basic books, get comfy online, get the software - which looks really cool - then, how to start looking slick at the casino? No hurry, of course, but preparing for the long term.

Off to find some online poker.

don't play with more than you can afford to lose. setup an amount you are willing to put in from the beginning and if you lose that, quit. play the lowest limits. don't move up in limits until your bankroll can afford it (300x big bet for limit aka 600 big blinds, and 20x max buy in for capped no limit). don't get frustrated by clowns making crazy plays.
