More details needed.

Frame relay to where? Frame relay runs over a leased line that you lease from where you are to your frame-relay providers nearest drop and then they route you to where you want to go with it. Are you trying to connect like 2 branch office are you just talking Internet connectivity? If you are talking Internet, you usually pay your telco for the line then the ISP for service, but some ISP's just bill you for it all.

Around here, 256K frame relay for Internet connectivity runs around $650/month. (not much less than full T1)

Wow............. $650, I guess I can just forget it than......... I wanted to have an internet connectivity via Frame-relay at my house....... Another reason is to study for my upcoming CCNP tests. Well My friend told me that he paid $800 for a T1 frame relay connection to his house to host a porn site, so then I thought maybe if 1/6 of its speed will cost 1/6 of the cost (around $150-200) I might get one for my lab and maybe use it to host a game server or some sort....... Well I might just get a DSL then........... (verizon 384kb/384kb for $90)...........

Thanks

Doesn't work that way. A 256Kbps line is just a fractional T1 and the circuit is the same as a T1.

My drive racks are Lian-Li RH-600's in the SCSI flavor. (They make them for IDE but without the SCSI id LED) Newegg has the IDE flavor. MPCparts.com used to have the SCSI flavor but it appears they don't care it anymore.

$90 for 384Kbps DSL? Ouch. It's $32 here for 256/256 or about $45 for 640/256.

I was going to build dual amd xp 2000 with adaptec 3200 raid controller and was looking around for some kind hardisk rack..... was going for enlight EN-8720 Ultra, but now I might consider the lian li. DSL is incredibly cheap there isnt it? where are you located now ? there are only 2 telco provider and a bunch of ISP, but the one that offer static ip and more upstream bandwith are very few..... a good one like I said cost $80-90 a month...... What would be a good alternative other that dsl or cable modem for a fast connection to internet these days ? I think frame-relay is out of the question since it cost arm and leg if I dont have any business running.............

DSL and cable are your only low cost options.

We are better off in Canada... I pay $155 ($100 US) for 3000/640 DSL with 5 static ips. :)

The speed is awesome! I have clocked uploads at 81 KB/sec, so yeah I'm getting the full 640 kbps :)

I'm using it for a webserver...

Dunno where you all are at.. but here in Texas / SWBELL, DSL is 1500/128k for $40 a month, and Cable is 3000/384k for $40.
Most of the US especially Pacific Northwest / GTE has crappy bandwidth/price. Glad I don't live there anymore :p

That doesn't even sound right. I'm in the last 4 months of a 3 year contract and I'm certainly not paying anywhere near that amount. The routers were included with the contract.

You may be getting a deal with your contract or your area is just cheaper or something. I checked out pricing for 5 local ISP's as well as the local telco and the big guys (sprintnet, alternet, etc.) to arrive at that figure.

Well I live in Oregon, and there are only 2 telco that provide dsl line. One is Verizon, another is Qwest..... But where I live only verizon can provide. They dont have such fancy bandwith like qwest and other telco 7M/1M they only have 1.5M/768K.... cost over $200 with both ISP and Telco cost. Right now I am using ATT Cable modem, but for the purpose of my lab I need more upload speed..... I am currently hosting a few domain and Exchange server...... Speed <----- Ungodly slow....... or even time out simetimes........ I need something like 384Kbps upload to get all this working......... Anyone in oregon that read this message have any suggestion for such solution for less than, well let say 100-150 small ones....
